This job posting is for an existing vacancy and is intended to fill a current position within our organization.

We are currently looking for an Employment Consultant to join our team of committed professionals.This Full-Time position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario’s Elm Street location in Sudbury. Under the leadership of the Program Manager, the Employment Consultant provides assistance, information, and counselling on all aspects of employment programs, job searching, education options, and career planning. This job is also responsible for ensuring optimum employment and training outcomes while maintaining YMCA values.

START DATE : October 13, 2025

LOCATION : Sudbury, ON

RATE OF PAY : $49,455.04/-

HOURS : 40 Hours / Week

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

  • College diploma or University degree in social sciences or related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in personal and or vocational counselling
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Superior presentation/facilitation skills
  • Crisis management skills
  • Self-motivated and a strong team player
  • Solid knowledge of community resources
  • Bilingualism in both official languages required
  • Current and Satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Determine program eligibility
  • Separate stabilization needs from employment needs and refer to other support services as required
  • Lead clients in development of an action plan in order to acquire the necessary information, skills and or resources to achieve their career goals
  • Identify the appropriate job postings and refer clients
  • Participate in internal and external meetings to assist in the case management process
  • Meet with clients on a regular basis to ensure progress, provide support, and conduct follow-ups
  • Maintain individual files to the standards set out by the program funders and YMCA Employment Services
