About this opportunity: We are seeking a technically skilled and self-motivated Field Technician to support the commissioning, maintenance, and optimization of wireless network infrastructure in the province of British Columbia. This assignment focuses on ensuring high availability and performance across cellular sites and transport facilities within the Customer Wireless Network. Key technologies supported include microwave radio, DC power, GSM/UMTS/LTE/5G base stations, in-building DAS, paging systems, Cisco switches, Remote Telemetry devices, fibre terminals, multiport RF antenna and line systems, understanding of HVAC systems and AC Power. This role involves frequent outdoor work in challenging environments, including remote locations, severe weather, and rugged terrain.
What you will do:
- Respond to network trouble reports with efficient diagnostics, repairs, and coordination across teams to restore service quickly.
- Perform acceptance tests on new equipment, ensuring compliance with design and performance specifications.
- Conduct root cause analyses, produce incident reports, and drive service-level improvements.
- Execute preventive maintenance, participate in network builds/upgrades, and verify performance with walk testing and technical measurements.
- Investigate and resolve interference issues, identify safety concerns, and escalate them for resolution.
- Implement, commission, and validate performance of 5G, GSM, UMTS, LTE, and transport systems while minimizing network impact.
- Maintain accurate documentation, manage inventory of tools and spares, and complete administrative tasks.
- Provide on-call and field support, including accessing remote sites, seasonal operations, and deploying generators during outages.
The skills you bring:
- Ability to provide rotational on-call support, including shift work and overtime as needed.
- Must be able to perform duties while exposed to harsh weather and on uneven or steep mountainous terrain.
- Diploma or Certificate in Electronics or equivalent experience in telecommunications.
- Experience in wireless cellular networks and related transmission technologies such as microwave systems (DS1, DS3).
- Strong understanding of RF systems, fibre optics, SONET (OC3–OC192), and TCP/IP networking.
- Proficient in accessing remote or seasonally challenging sites with off-road vehicles and towing and deploying mobile generators during power outages to maintain service.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills in field troubleshooting environments.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities, and deliver results in a fast-paced setting.

Your Pay
The salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, and the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
The salary range for this position is
- $62,000- $93,000
Short-Term Variable Compensation Plan: Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit’s objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Employees will receive company credits in an amount equal to the cost of the Deluxe medical and dental plan coverages for themselves and eligible covered dependents.
Your Financial Security
We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. Ericsson’s Group Retirement & Savings Program offers an automatic 2% company contribution into the Pension Plan. Ericsson also offers a 50% match of employee’s contribution into the Registered Retirement Savings Plan, up to 8% of the employee’s contribution (maximum of 4% match). This leads to a total company contribution potential of 6%. Employees will also receive company credits in an amount equal to the cost of basic life insurance and basic accidental death and dismemberment coverage, as well as short-term disability coverage. Your Time
Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 18 days of accrued vacation, 3-5 personal days (depending on role), 10 holidays, 1 volunteer day, and sick days. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee’s start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 10 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
