Job Description: The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN) is
accountable for promoting high quality care through assessing, planning, implementing, documenting and evaluating the total care needs of our patients/residents/clients (P/R/Cs). The RN/RPN is required to coordinate with all the departments within the facility, families and professionals associated with P/R/Cs care. The RN/RPN must promote effective communication in the facility through care given and reporting mechanisms. The RN/RPN is expected to participate in staff meetings and educational opportunities to maintain their own professional competence.

- Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN)
Other Education and Training
- Bachelor of Nursing is acceptable
- Nursing diploma is acceptable
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
- Psychiatric Nursing diploma is acceptable

- Knowledge of commonly used psychotropic medications

- Competency in psychiatric nursing assessments, care planning & treatment
- Ability to keep effective work relationships with clients of diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge of the the Provincial Mental Health Services Act and Regulations
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
