About the role
Arise Talent Hub, on behalf of our established construction client, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Estimator to join their dynamic team specializing in building and municipal infrastructure. This is an exceptional opportunity for a technically skilled and strategic professional to lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for high-value public and private projects, particularly in water-related utilities and infrastructure.
The successful candidate will possess a strong foundation in civil estimating, with proven experience across heavy civil, environmental, and underground utility scopes. This role offers the opportunity to influence large-scale infrastructure projects across Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of accurate cost estimates for infrastructure projects ranging from $10M to $400M
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and proposals to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates
- Conduct quantity take-offs and create bid documentation using HeavyBid and other industry tools
- Participate in the tendering process, including reviewing tender documents, preparing bid packages, and submitting proposals
- Liaise with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
- Identify potential project risks and assist in developing risk mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients during the pre-construction phase
- Stay current with market trends, pricing, and new technologies relevant to civil estimating
- Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings as required
- Maintain and improve internal estimating procedures and documentation
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (required)
- Minimum 8 years of experience in estimating heavy civil and municipal infrastructure projects (required)
- Strong expertise in cost estimating for roadworks, bridges, underground utilities, and building construction
- Proficiency in estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid , Paydirt , and Excel (required)
- Familiarity with contract formats, risk analysis, and procurement processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines
- Willingness to travel locally for site assessments and pre-bid meetings
- Knowledge of Ontario construction standards and industry practices
