About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveying using GPS and Total Station equipment
- Perform layout, control, and interpret as-built drawings
- Plan and execute ground surveys to establish baselines, elevations, and geodetic measurements
- Verify accuracy of survey data through on-site measurements and calculations
- Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and terrain characteristics
- Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and survey documentation
- Support pipe crews with accurate layout for underground infrastructure installation
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and jobsite personnel
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and interpreting contract drawings and specifications
- Maintain proper document control and ensure compliance with contract requirements
- Coordinate review of shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals with contractors and design firms
- Provide instruction to subcontractors under supervision of Project Manager/Superintendent
- Adhere to and promote all Health & Safety policies and procedures
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma or degree in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3 years' field surveying experience in civil construction
- Proficiency with GPS and Total Station equipment
- Strong knowledge of survey calculations, geodetic principles, and construction layouts
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Strong organizational and document control skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and survey-related software
