The Role:
We are looking for a Payroll Administrative Clerk for a 12-month term to join our team of professionals in our Shoreland Transport office in Stellarton, NS. This position will require strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities seamlessly with excellent attention to detail. The primary duties of this role involve confidentially and ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees utilizing a trucking software system.
Job Responsibilities:
- Auditing miles and inputting driver hours and other relevant data into the trucking software system.
- Ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Answering driver questions related to payroll, deductions, and other compensation matters.
- Generating reports on driver earnings, expenses, and other payroll-related data, often using the system's reporting features.
- Ensuring accuracy of the data flow between the payroll module and other modules within the trucking software.
- Utilizing the system's timecard tracking or timekeeping features to record driver hours, including overtime, breaks, and other compensable time.
- Incorporating driver mileage and freight data into the payroll calculation process.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in accounting or administration is an asset.
- Experience in accounting and/or payroll (preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
- An energetic, self-starter who works well in a deadline driven environment.
