What You’ll Be Doing
As the Senior Manager, Agency Syndication, you will play a pivotal leadership role in providing specialized agency services as an independent intermediary between borrowers and lenders participating in syndicated credit facilities arranged by Wholesale or Retail Markets. Leveraging your deep expertise in lending products and syndication practices across Canadian Commercial Banking, Canadian Large Corporate, US Large Corporate, or European Large Corporate, you will lead the administration and monitoring of established credit facilities, ensuring robust risk management and exemplary service delivery. You will champion a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence, driving process enhancements and quality initiatives to elevate client experience and organizational efficiency. As a senior leader within the Credit Processing Team, you will inspire and mentor a high-performing team, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and accountability.

How You'll Succeed
- Strategic Relationship Management - Build and sustain strong, trust-based relationships with borrowers, lenders, external and internal legal counsel, and business partners across the Bank. Leverage your influence and expertise to align stakeholders, resolve complex issues, and drive successful syndication outcomes.
- Leadership & Team Development - Lead, coach, and develop a large, diverse team, setting clear expectations and empowering team members to achieve their full potential. Foster an inclusive, high-performance culture that embraces innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Expert Guidance & Thought Leadership - Serve as a recognized industry expert in local market funding and operational standards for all loan products and services. Provide strategic recommendations and innovative solutions to complex funding challenges, positioning CIBC as a market leader.
- Operational Excellence & Risk Mitigation - Oversee the accurate and timely flow of funds, proactively identifying and mitigating risks to the Bank. Ensure rigorous adherence to internal controls, regulatory requirements, and best practices in all aspects of loan administration.
- Negotiation & Influence - Lead negotiations on behalf of the Agent and syndicate, including annual Agency Fee reviews and revenue collection/distribution. Use your strong negotiation skills to achieve optimal outcomes for all parties.
- Process Improvement & Change Leadership - Act as a catalyst for continuous improvement, identifying and implementing opportunities to enhance processes, procedures, and client service delivery. Lead change initiatives with a focus on digital transformation and operational efficiency.
- Governance & Compliance - Ensure full compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Maintain expert knowledge of credit agreements and contractual arrangements, safeguarding the Bank’s interests while delivering superior client outcomes.
- Deal Execution & Oversight - Facilitate the closing of new or amended credit facilities, ensuring all deal structures, systems (e.g., ACBS, SyndTrak, Debtdomain), and documentation are accurate and compliant. Coordinate initial advances and review flow of funds memoranda, mitigating execution risks.
Who You Are
- You can demonstrate experience. University degree or College diploma in Business, Accounting, or Finance (MBA, CFA, or CPA an asset)5-10 years of progressive, relevant experience in Commercial Credit, Syndicated Lending, or General Banking Leadership Competencies.
