LOCATION AND ABOUT NHH
Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Acute services include emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, obstetrical care and palliative care. Post-acute specialty services (PASS) include restorative care and rehabilitation. Mental health care, cancer and supportive care, dialysis and other ambulatory care clinics are offered on an outpatient basis through partnerships with regional centres and nearby specialists. NHH offers a full range of diagnostic services, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and mammography. The hospital serves the catchment area of west Northumberland County. A mixed urban and rural population of approximately 67,000 residents, west Northumberland comprises the Town of Cobourg, the Municipality of Port Hope, Alderville First Nation and the townships of Hamilton, Cramahe and Alnwick/Haldimand. NHH employs more than 850 people and relies on the additional support provided by physicians, midwives and volunteers. ROLE OVERVIEW
The Physiotherapist will manage a specific caseload, planning, developing and providing individual physiotherapy programs for patients who are in the hospital. This will involve assessing and setting goals based on the patient’s demonstrated need. The Physiotherapist must be able to fulfill a multi-dimensional role of clinician, consultant, and educator of patient care.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Masters degree from a recognized university program of Physiotherapy
- Licensed to practice with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
- Demonstrates the knowledge of principles, practices, and professional standards of Physiotherapy
- Minimum 3 years experience in Rehabilitation, Restorative Care or Acute Care
- Past experience in gerontology and working with individuals with cognitive impairments preferred
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Able to work in an active, rapidly changing stressful environment with multiple demands
- Ability to make decisions and prioritize effectively
- Must have sufficient physical endurance to deal with the job requirements
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods with repetitive bending
- Must have the required manual accuracy for safe and effective handling of patients and equipment
- Must be available to work 7 days a week on a flexible schedule to cover some vacation relief and regular weekends
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Successful applicants are required provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.
Additionally, to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
