Title: Transportation Coordinator and Driver - es zúmin’ Primary Care Centre

Salary: $52,883 - $66,104 - $72,714 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract: This position is a term with the FNHA ending 6/20/2026 with a possibility of an extension. When the term position ends with the FNHA, it is intended that this position will be offered as a permanent role with the es zúmin’ Primary Care Clinic.

Hours: 37.5 weekly hours.

Location: Mount Currie, BC, with frequent travel to the Southern Stl'atl'imx communities, which are up to 3 hours away by road.

FNPCI Initiative The First Nations-led Primary Care Initiative (FNPCI) aims to improve access to primary health-care services for First Nations people across BC in a way that is culturally safe and closer to home. The FNPCI is part of the province’s primary care strategy, which is integrating team-based care in communities throughout B.C. and changing the way primary care is delivered with the creation of primary care networks in partnership with the Regional Health Authorities.

In order to meet the health and wellness needs of First Nations people, it is very important that primary care is culturally safe and culturally informed where Indigenous ways of knowing and being are woven into services.

One of the main objectives of the FNPCI is to develop new First Nations Primary Health Care Centers in rural and urban locations across the province. The centers will provide access to culturally safe, quality primary health care services for First Nations people and their families. The aim is for clients to feel safe, welcomed, valued, respected and heard when they access care services at one of these centers.

About The Centre The es zúmin’ Primary Care Centre (PCC) provides culturally safe, trauma-informed primary care services to the Líl?wat, N’Quatqua, Samahquam, Skatin and Xa’xtsa First Nations communities. es zúmin’ means “to care for”, and the es zúmin’ PCC is a place to provide holistic care for people, incorporating Indigenous ways of knowing and being in all our services. Located in the Líl’wat Health Pqusnalhcw Health Centre (11092 Blackbear Road, Mt. Currie) and the Southern Stl’atl’imx Health Society (SSHS) main building (321 IR10 Road Road, Mt. Currie), and with mobile clinics providing services in N’Quatqua, Samahquam, Skatin, and Xa’xtsa, the es zúmin’ PCC provides a safe space for First Nations people and their families to seek high-quality primary care services.

About The Role The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for planning and conducting safe and timely travel for staff and clients of the Primary Care Centre, including organizing schedules, providing transportation, assisting passengers as needed, performing and documenting vehicular safety checks, maintenance and cleaning processes. The position works under the direction of the Practice Clinical Manager and coordinates with members of the primary care team to identify daily assignment, priorities, and schedules.

About You Education

  • Provincial Grade 12 education or equivalent

Occupational Certification

  • Valid BC Class 4A or 4B Driver’s License
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification required or must complete within 3 months of employment
  • Successful completion of Violence Prevention training within 3 months of employment

Experience

  • Experience working with First Nation and Indigenous individuals or communities
  • Experience driving in remote areas in all and inclement weather conditions
  • Prior experience in passenger transportation, especially with individuals with disabilities is an asset

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of and experience utilizing cultural safety, humility and trauma-informed approaches
  • Knowledge of routine vehicular maintenance schedules
  • Ability to perform minor repairs/routine vehicular maintenance an asset
  • Knowledge of the geography/location of communities in the Southern Stl’atl’imx Region
  • Good communication skills, including de-escalation and supportive communication skills
  • Ability to speak one of the local Indigenous languages is an asset
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the team
  • Ability to take direction
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability to navigate through the service area using maps or on-board directional equipment
  • Ability to make quick decisions with the ability to remain calm and create a sense of balance between providing service and handling pressurized situations.

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.

Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.

The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
