  • Domestically, our logistics teams work closely with our shipping and client service departments to ensure that our carrier partnerships are strong and that final-mile deliveries are made on time and cost-effectively.

Position Summary

  • The Logistics Coordinator supports our shipping and client service teams in a live fulfillment environment while engaging with our delivery of courier services daily to ensure the competitive and timely delivery of products in the marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

Courier

  • Assist the Logistics Manager with annual contract negotiations, analyzing rate agreements, pricing action, and testing courier rate updates in production.
  • Compile monthly reports on carrier activity. Analyze carrier spend, service levels, and shipping/rate improvement opportunities at the 3PL-Client level.
  • Assist the Logistics Manager with identifying market trends and evaluating alternative service providers and services including new carriers, new mode (air/zone skip), and new geographic offerings.
  • Shopping – run rate comparisons, leveraging Fraser Direct’s applications, and making periodic recommendations to 3PL Clients.
  • Quote courier shipments for clients, resolve escalations, and file claims for lost/damaged packages.
  • Escalate carrier service and performance concerns and mitigate risk by maintaining alternative carrier options.

LTL Projects – Laydowns/Mass Distribution

  • Assist Client Service teams with carrier selection and planning.
  • Seek out quotes and make recommendations supporting client needs.
  • Perform carrier pre-alert and shipping profile for laydowns/distributions.
  • Proactively monitor on-time delivery and provide status reports with delivery details to Client Services.
  • Notify Client Services when delivery points are not responding with appointments.

Shipping Applications & Rating

  • Source and nominate LTL carriers and dispatch shipments through our TMS (Link) and Carrier API Applications (TBD).
  • Monitor shipments in transit to ensure on-time delivery and identify shipments with delivery issues.
  • Escalate issues with carriers to obtain resolution, alert Client Service teams and follow to resolution.
  • Complete audit of dispatched shipments and approve for invoicing.
  • Rating of LTL shipments as per carrier tariff, liaise with Finance to address rate variances to LTL tariffs as needed.

Internal Communication & Service Escalation

  • Keep the Logistics Manager informed of any service or carrier invoicing issues that cannot be resolved.
  • Research and resolve billing issues (all carriers) and orphan pin reports for specific carriers.
  • Contribute to optimizing the LTL shipping process within our operations and to documenting best practices in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide support and training for Shipping and Client Service teams, including process and SOP assistance.
  • Assist with Fraser’s Corrective and Preventative Action (“CAPA”) program, to document service failures, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to resolve systemic or training issues with carriers and Fraser Direct teams.

Carrier Management Support

  • Attend periodic meetings with the Logistics Manager for carrier reviews, new or renewing tariffs, and service negotiations.
  • Request quarterly reports for all core carriers to monitor activity against volume targets.
  • Complete domestic freight comparisons for rates and service standards when requested.
  • Test rate and accessorial updates on carrier portals, and desktop rating tools.
  • Maintain carrier contact lists and distribute to the appropriate teams.

Other

  • Adhere to all Fraser Direct corporate and departmental policies and procedures.
  • All other client service duties or projects as assigned.

Qualities Essential for Success

  • Domestic transportation industry knowledge and experience is required (LTL). 3PL experience is an asset.
  • Experience in shipping/receiving, dispatch, quoting, analysis, carrier selection, freight negotiations.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Must be driven to improve processes and take initiative to highlight opportunities.
  • Strong Microsoft Office knowledge, including Excel skills for rating and pricing analysis.
  • Experience with Transportation Management Software required.
  • Able to deal with people professionally at all times.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Very organized, able to work on multiple tasks and prioritize continuously to meet deadlines.
  • Flexible and able to deal with change.
  • Strong attention to detail.
