What We’re Looking For Due to continued growth in our Surety practice, we are hiring an Insurance Advisor, Surety to support a rapidly expanding client base of contractors and developers.

This role combines document preparation, analytical support, client service, and coordination with surety markets. You will work closely with the VP, Surety and the Surety Team, gaining exposure to a collaborative and fast-growing specialty practice within HUB.

Our Burnaby Still Creek head office location is centrally located in the Willingdon Business Park near Brentwood Town Centre. This location is easily accessible by the Gilmore sky train station with many shops, restaurants and other amenities nearby.

Requirements

  • Level 2 General Insurance License
  • 2-4 years of experience in Commercial Insurance
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn proprietary systems quickly.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a client-focused approach.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Analytical mindset and willingness to learn surety underwriting concepts.

Asset Experience That Will Make You Stand Out

  • Industry designation (CIP, CAIB, CRM, General Insurance & Risk Management Diploma – BCIT)
  • Education or experience in finance, accounting, commercial insurance, or construction administration
  • Experience with EPIC, Policy Works, CSR24, or similar systems

A Day in the Life Surety Support & Administration

  • Prepare and issue surety bonds including bid, performance, labour & materials, maintenance, developer bonds, and CMHC bonds.
  • Review bid documents, prepare sunshine letters, and support urgent tender requirements.
  • Assist in new bond facility submissions to surety markets, including gathering and organizing required underwriting information.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and processing within EPIC and internal systems.

Client Service & Coordination

  • Support the workflow of the Surety Team to ensure timely, high-quality service for existing and new clients.
  • Collaborate with Producers and the broader HUB construction team to deliver coordinated advisory support.
  • Help identify client needs and contribute to practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • Participate in client discussions regarding bonding requirements and documentation.

Analytical & Financial Support

  • Learn to interpret contractor and developer financial information, including financial statements, working capital, net worth, and WIP schedules.
  • Assist in preparing underwriting summaries and supporting documentation for market submission.
  • Identify information gaps and work with internal teams or clients to complete requirements.

Team & Industry Engagement

  • Work with colleagues within the Surety Team to share knowledge and build internal expertise.
  • Ensure compliance with HUB standards in file handling, documentation, and correspondence.
  • Participate in industry events and represent HUB professionally across the construction ecosystem.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

The expected salary range for this position is $45,000 to $60,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
