Freeport Construction Management is a division of Freeport Industries that focuses on on-site assembly success. Freeport Industries designs and builds customized modular structures for residential, commercial, and industrial clients throughout Western Canada.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Project Manager will oversee the creation of the project scope, milestones, and deliverables, while ensuring resources are in place to meet the needs of assigned projects. The Senior Project Manager may have exposure to both traditional and modular building methods, either skill sets are desired.
This position is based in West Kelowna, BC, with travel to project sites as required.
The Job
As a Senior Project Manager at Freeport Construction Management, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Project Leadership
- Lead full-cycle project management for large, multi-story modular or site-built construction projects.
- Own project outcomes including cost, schedule, safety, and client satisfaction.
- Direct internal and subcontract teams, resolving issues quickly and decisively.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Host kickoff meetings, site walks, and milestone reviews; provide regular progress updates.
- Manage expectations around scope, budget, and delivery timelines.
Planning & Coordination
- Develop and maintain project scopes, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with estimating, design, and production.
- Coordinate with factory production leads and on-site supervisors to ensure seamless transitions.
- Work with consultants and authorities having jurisdiction to secure permits and inspections.
Budget & Financial Control
- Track and report project financials, monitor change orders, and maintain profitability targets.
- Review and approve vendor invoices, RFPs, and sub-trade contracts.
Field Oversight & Safety
- Attend job sites regularly during key phases (site prep, delivery, set, close-in, occupancy).
- Enforce safety standards and support the HSE team in driving a zero-incident culture.
- Conduct quality inspections to confirm all scope and finishing standards are met.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify project challenges early and implement corrective action.
- Document and share lessons learned to improve systems and repeatable project delivery processes.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement in modular project execution practices.
- Other duties as assigned
The Ideal Candidate
- 5-7 years of Project Management experience overseeing multi‐disciplined residential, commercial or industrial project sites.
- PMP certification or being in the process of obtaining this certification.
- Experience in contract/subcontract coordination, administration and oversight including assembling and issuing RFQ/RFPs.
- Strong understanding of construction contract law, including ability to read and interpret contracts and technical drawings.
- A track record of successfully completing projects safely, profitably, on time, and to a high-quality standard.
- A track record of maintaining a positive and collaborative relationship with clients.
- Familiarity with cost estimating, material take offs, job close out procedures, and computerized Program Management software will be an asset.
- Familiarity with CCA-1 subcontract form as well as experience with construction project management and budget tracking software
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Proven goal setting and problem-solving ability.
- Background in modular construction, is an asset.
- Valid BC driver’s license is required
Compensation:
The typical hiring range for this position is $95,000 – 120,000 per year. The final agreed upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
