As a member of the Women’s Stabilization & Recovery supervisory team, the Supervisor, Care Team is responsible for supervising the Recovery Care Workers and overseeing the care of the Sanctuary program participants. This position will work closely with the supportive recovery team as well as the Administrator, Stabilization & Recovery to oversee the practical and logistical functions of the daily schedules and needs of the participants, striving to enhance client care and services consistent with UGM’s Vision and Core Values. You also provide pastoral care and leadership to all permanent shift supervisors and recovery care workers. You are also a role model for the Sanctuary participants and staff, exhibiting the presence of Christ in both compassion and integrity, providing hope and also firm decisions when necessary. Your work is to be done through a trauma-informed, culturally aware lens, providing non-judgmental, woman-centered support in order to empower the program participants to maintain their new recovery-oriented lifestyle.
This is a permanent , full-time (37.5 hours per week) position . The starting range for this position is $31.92 to $34.88 per hour.

Main Duties & Responsibilities Leadership & Supervision
- Provide supervision to Recovery Care Workers and provide leadership to other Care Team members by creating a safe place for them to debrief personal problems or critical incidents and receive support as appropriate. Must know when to refer to professional counselor and/or
- Partner with the rest of the Women’s Recovery & Housing supervisory team in collaborative problem-solving; setting direction and determining how to handle complex and difficult issues with staff or program participants and ensuring timely follow-up on action items.
- Ensuring decisions are consistently applied across the teams by providing a hands-on approach on the floor, accessible to all care team members when appropriate.
- Participate in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluating of program activities and special projects. Present new program ideas and long-term planning initiatives to management.
- Participate in the hiring, firing, annual performance reviews, training and spiritual development of staff.
- Identify gaps in staff training and provide Manager with training needs/outcomes input.
- Assist and lead staff meetings and staff team building sessions for your team.
- Ensure scheduling and payroll submissions are accurate, complete and timely.
- Adhere to appropriate procedures with respect to HR-related matters such as approving vacations, scheduling time off, and trading shifts.
- Cooperate and coordinate with inter-departmental staff and managers.
- Provide spiritual care as appropriate.
- Provide tours for donors as needed.
Program Participant Care & Programming
- Provide consistent on-site supervision in the Sanctuary, including assisting with intakes and discharges when required.
- Support the Programs Supervisor in the coordination of the daily schedules for Morning Motivations and Sanctuary Discussion group, being prepared to fill if needed.
- Coordinate with the supportive recovery team with regards to participant care and activities.
- Ensure participants are served well each day, following-up and taking initiative on problem-solving with Recovery Care Workers, and with program participants directly when needed.
- Be part of the rotating schedule for after-hours on-call.
KSA’s

- Vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ our Creator, as Saviour and Lord.
- Related post-secondary education, combined with several years of related supervisory experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of related work experience is required, with knowledge of issues related to vulnerable women experiencing various barriers including poverty and addiction.
- Consideration may be given to alternate combinations of lived experience and education.
- At least 40 hours of training in one or more of these subjects: counselling; crisis and conflict resolution; psychosocial intervention for substance use disorders; and trauma-informed practice. Advanced administrative, interpersonal and time management skills.
- Intermediate computer skills (Excel, Word and Outlook) and related database experience.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive matters with tact, diplomacy and good judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to de-escalate tense situations that could lead to aggressiveness or violence.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required.
- Completion of UGM’s Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and all other mandatory training, including First Aid training/certification and Naloxone training/certification.
- Willing to provide current vaccination information.
- Technical Competency—Trauma-Informed Care (Level 3): Help identify negative events that have impacted the client’s functioning, and develop interventions that emphasize safety, choice, and personal control.
Working Conditions
- Work Location
Work is generally performed indoors, with up to 10% of the time spent outdoors in all types of weather.
- Physical Requirements
Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing, walking or reaching for up to 50% of the time. Employee is required to look at a computer screen and use a keyboard for up to 70% of the time.
- Work Conditions
Working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate. Work is performed amid normal conditions of dust, odors, fumes, and noises. Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water. This position is required to work in an environment often dealing with clients in crisis situations brought about by diverse problems. The ability to function independently and frequently under pressure, while managing multiple concurrent tasks including emergency situations is an ongoing expectation of this position.
- Hours of Work
This position generally works a day shift however flexibility is required. Weekend and/or evening work will be required as needed to support the team. Moderate overtime may be required. Working on statutory holidays may be required.
- Hazards
Job requires frequent interaction with the public some of whom may be upset, abusive, and/or violent. Job requires working frequently with people in unhealthy conditions and may include exposure to bodily fluids, lice and/or bedbugs. Employee is required to hear information about clients’ lives which may be troubling or upsetting and may cause emotional issues including vicarious trauma.
