About the role

PPHASOR Engineering Inc. is a dynamic consulting firm specializing in the engineering and design of overhead & underground transmission/distribution systems, substations, fibre optics, as well as substation and transmission foundations. Our expertise allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from conceptual engineering through to commissioning and startup.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Junior Lines Design Engineer (EIT) or Intermediate Lines Design Engineer to join our Kelowna engineering team. We offer a dynamic work environment with an extremely experienced technical team, where you will be fully involved in all aspects of the engineering and design process.

Responsibilities:

  • Using AutoCAD, GIS mapping software and client supported software to develop and prepare drawings, plans, diagrams, layouts and capital costs for electrical distribution projects
  • Preparing overhead or underground electrical distribution design documents from conception to completion for projects that include residential, commercial, industrial clients, and subdivisions
  • Perform calculations related to the design of overhead and underground systems
  • Producing, completing and auditing document packages, drawing sets, construction packages and/or as-built drawings
  • Participating in client design/review meetings
  • Visiting construction/greenfield sites in potentially remote locations
  • Assembling design and construction packages for internal reviews and as deliverables to clients
  • Liaising with clients, developers and internal customers as required
  • Support project co-ordination documentation and activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals.
  • Provide construction support.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field

  • 1-2 years experience in electrical overhead and underground distribution design is an asset

  • Knowledge of Engineering/Design Standards and Codes is an asset

  • Registered (or eligible for registration) for an AScT or P.Eng. (or equivalent) designation

  • Experience with the use of ESRI based software and design drafting experience in AutoCAD an asset

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office particularly Excel and Word

  • Strong verbal communication abilities, good organization, interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment and with minimal supervision

  • Be physically fit as site visits on potentially uneven ground are required

  • First Aid Level 1 certification or higher is an asset

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
