As the Business Performance Analyst, you will work independently within a cross-divisional setting to support, monitor and analyze senior-level, proactive relationships with various entities that are crucial to the utility service's operations and strategic goals for water, wastewater and stormwater services. You will provide reports, analysis, research, and recommendations for various levels within the organization, for senior leadership and for subject matter experts working on external water and watershed relationships and collaborations. Primary duties include:

  • Maintain external relationships management contact records, risk register, and interested party profiles.
  • Advance how the Water Utility monitors external influences and opportunities.
  • Report on operational, financial and interests data to various parties (including Utility Leadership and Council) and to networks outside of the City.
  • Review and analyze external business performance trends to support evolving data-driven decision making and to monitor external risk to service delivery, including connecting across groups, data systems and data sets to support analytics and data improvement.
  • Provide analytical and external party expertise and support on key projects that often span multiple divisions and services.
  • Coordinate project management and process improvement for initiatives that have a strong data, analytic, financial or systems focus.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Business, Data science, Computer Science, or other related disciplines and at least 3 years of related experience.
  • Experience must include working with business analytics using various business intelligence (BI) tools, data visualization and reporting, data retrieval and analysis using Excel, Structured Query Language (SQL), Access, SAP Business Objects and other data management systems.
  • Experience using Power BI to create interactive and coherent insights (data models, data visualization) and experience with descriptive analytics including trending, linear regression, and analysis of variance would be an asset.
  • Understanding of how to perform geospatial data queries, and experience with best practices in both data quality and data integrity (including data collection, storage, cleaning) is an asset.
  • Must be a team player with well-developed communication and relationship building skills, as well as being able to work independently while maintaining a strong attention to detail.

Workstyle

  • This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Compensation: Pay Grade 10 $44.01 - 58.82 per hour

Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day

work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
