Free Women (a Bennett Milner Williams Consulting initiative)

POSITION TITLE: Women's Health Research & Knowledge Associate REPORTS TO: Founder & Principal TERM: 20 weeks (Venture for Canada Programme) HOURS: 20 hours per week

Core Function

This role bridges scientific research, evidence translation and digital knowledge development. The successful candidate will help build Free Women's evidence-based menopause knowledge platform by researching, evaluating and translating scientific evidence into accessible educational content and structured knowledge that powers our website, AI knowledge base (RAG) and digital tools.

Primary Areas of Responsibility

Scientific Research & Knowledge Development

Conduct structured literature reviews. Critically appraise the quality and strength of evidence. Build and maintain a structured evidence library. Create citation-backed research summaries. Organise and tag content for retrieval within Free Women's AI knowledge base (RAG).

Translate scientific evidence into

website articles Q&A symptom guides clinician resources AI knowledge entries Track emerging evidence and update content as the science evolves.

Community Management & Engagement

Support moderation of the Free Women community platform. Respond to member questions in a professional and empathetic manner (within defined guidelines). Escalate medical or sensitive queries appropriately. Assist in developing onboarding materials for new members. Identify recurring themes and community needs and report insights. Help cultivate a supportive, respectful and evidence-led community culture.

Digital Content & Platform Support

Support the development of a Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) knowledge base by preparing structured, citation-backed content suitable for AI-assisted retrieval. Repurpose research summaries into short-form educational content (where appropriate). Support development of GEO-optimised content pages. Help maintain consistency in tone, clarity and evidence-based positioning. Apply critical thinking to identify where evidence is strong, evolving or uncertain.

Research & Strategic Support

Conduct competitor and market analysis in the menopause and women’s health app space. Review and validate educational content from partners and third-party organisations to ensure alignment with current scientific evidence and Free Women's evidence-based standards. Support grant research and documentation. Assist in gathering statistics and industry data to support partnership discussions. Contribute to structured documentation of systems and processes.

Strong academic research skills Ability to read and interpret scientific literature Excellent writing and communication skills Demonstrates sound judgement when interpreting evolving scientific evidence and communicating uncertainty responsibly Emotional intelligence and empathy Strong organisational abilities Initiative and intellectual curiosity Comfort working in a structured but entrepreneurial environment The successful candidate should be comfortable working within a structured editorial workflow, balancing scientific rigour with efficient production of high-quality educational content. Experience with digital tools (Canva, WordPress, etc.) is an asset but not required.
