The Branch Manager should have a proven track record of attracting, building and

developing a team that will empower the employees to make the branch a success.

Under broad managerial direction, the BM will manage the day to day operations

of a retail branch and will require proven leadership and exceptional external business development skills. They should have a number of established Centers of Influences (COI’s). The BM will use the Members First philosophy to coach and assist staff in responding to member needs, with the objective of helping members attain their financial goals.

What you’ll be doing

Service and Sales Management

  • Drive the development and achievement of branch sales targets and branch marketing plans.
  • Plan and implement activities to achieve sales results.
  • Coach and implement regular coaching sessions with all staff on: products, cross-selling, up-selling, pricing and profitability.
  • Mentor and oversee staff with career-pathing, skill development, and ongoing learning.
  • Motivate, develop and implement branch sales contests, internal campaigns and incentives to drive specific sales or budget targets.
  • To ensure that self, branch and branch staff are involved in community activities to enhance the credit union’s image in the community.
  • Business development – to be proactive in pursuing new business opportunities by: actively soliciting new business, reviewing marketing data to determine new market potential, to ensure employees are actively working on out-bound sales opportunities
  • Sales Communication – to ensure monthly sales reports are completed on time for review with the regional manager; to ensure weekly staff meetings involve sales as a topic reporting year to date sales.

Financial Results

  • Monitor and ensure financial targets are being met or exceeded for the branch.
  • Prepare annual budgets/targets and monitor/report on progress to the regional manager and branch staff.
  • Take appropriate action as necessary to meet set budgets and targets

Member Experience

  • Identify, solicit, and close sales opportunities; offer appropriate Servus products and services to
  • members in response to stated needs, as well as in response to clues indicating unstated needs.
  • Participate actively in our sales culture by providing our members with accurate information, explaining services and their benefits, and developing long term relationships.
  • Recommend and refer loans/mortgages outside of assigned discretionary limits to the appropriate level of authority. Process credit applications diligently, undertaking all credit investigations including arranging for appraisals, performing credit checks, verifying employment and income, and completing lien searches. 
  • Uphold consistent ongoing service and general financial advice to our members in the wealth management area.
  • Protect our member's financial well-being through the delivery of our portfolio of Insurance products.
  • Promote referrals to our Wealth Management, Business Banking teams and our 3rd party providers.
  • Achieve or exceed assigned sales and referral goals. Enthusiastically participate in, and assist in the creation of corporate and branch campaigns.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and loss prevention guidelines to mitigate the risk of loss to the Credit Union. Manages delinquent accounts <15 days and strives to bring accounts current in a timely manner.
  • Prepare accurate and complete documentation, processing account changes, and handling member inquiries in a timely and efficient manner while taking every opportunity to enhance our relationship with our members.
  • Participate actively in job related courses and seminars to ensure ongoing self- development.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of commercial lending and the corresponding products and services available to enhance our relationships with our commercial and agricultural members.

Coaching

  • Evaluate the success of staff developmental opportunities and provide effective coaching and technical training.
  • Provide support, guidance, and training to all co-workers as necessary to ensure performance improvement and cohesive teamwork. Branch Manager’s lead by example and act as a positive role model for all employees.
  • Audit for accuracy and completion of documentation and ensure that staff adheres to policies, procedures, compliance, and loss prevention guidelines to mitigate the risk of loss to the Credit Union.
  • Complete semi-annual performance reviews for each direct report with a focus on skill building. 
  • Motivate employees through the effective implementation and design of reward/recognition programs.
  • Hold weekly staff meetings that keep employees informed and includes an effective sales component.
  • Treat employees with dignity and respect and fosters a skillful, competent, positive and expressive culture.
  • Ensure mutual fund transactions conform with the MFDA guidelines and that investment accounts >$250M are referred to an Investment Advisor.

Audit

  • Ensure policy and procedures are followed which would ensure compliance with audit requirements.
  • Ensure employees are trained and following banking and loan procedures.
  • Take necessary action on issues or concerns arising from the annual audits.
  • Act as Branch Compliance Officer for Mutual Funds. 

Human Resource Management

  • Organize, schedule and monitor branch activities to ensure maximum service levels are being provided to members.
  • Interview prospective employees and make hiring decisions.
  • Establish performance standards/plans for each employee annually.
  • Evaluate performance of employees and provide regular feedback/coaching to ensure staff are meeting set performance standards, complete annual review, take necessary action as required.
  • Identify training needs of employees and ensure they have completed required training for their positions (career pathing).
  • Assess employees’ lending abilities to recommend credit limits to regional manager.
  • Ensure the working environment is positive and productive (morale, workspace, safety-security).
  • Review and take action on areas which have been identified in the employee survey as requiring action (corporately and at branch level).
  • Monitor personnel expenses productivity levels and take necessary action as required to maintain expected levels

 

What you bring

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in progressively senior lending or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  •  Working knowledge of Credit Union products, policies, procedures and operations.
  • Professional Financial Planner (PFP Route) OR Certified Financial Planning (CFP Route)
