About the role

A Snapshot of Your Day The Siemens Energy Grid Technologies Quebec Services team provides a comprehensive service portfolio including packaging turnkey installation and commissioning, repair, refurbishment, spares and parts for OEM and non-OEM power system equipment. This equipment includes power transformers, gas insulated switchgear and air insulated switchgear. The Service Project Manager – Quebec will be responsible for the successful execution of projects with focus on safety, cost, schedule and quality. Projects include

  • Large transformer assembly and installations, acceptance testing, maintenance as well as refurbishment, relocations, warranty, and other service-related transformer projects.
  • GIS assembly, installation, maintenance and site acceptance testing warranty support as well as other GIS service-related projects.
  • HV breaker and switchgear assembly, installation, gassing, site acceptance testing, maintenance and warranty support as well as other HV service-related projects.
  • Supporting internal business-related projects such as CAPEX, process improvements, cost savings and equipment maintenance projects.
  • This position will be the main point of contact with the customer and operational interface into a wide range of Siemens Energy entities, that supply and support many electrical technologies. A successful candidate will have experience managing contracted vendors, providing direction to field service personnel, coordinating factory response, leading project execution activities, inter-departmental communication, and operational logistics. This position reports directly to the operations manager but will have performance reporting responsibility to many team leaders in the overall Siemens Energy Grid Technologies organization.

  • Experience with Hydro Quebec and utility operations is a benefit
  • Manage all phases of Grid Technologies services projects from inception through completion, and be financially responsible to overall project performance
  • Review and understand project’s agreement/contract, specifications, clarification and exceptions, scope of work, budgets, and allowances prior to commencement.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, (written and/or verbal), regarding project scope, safety reviews, security or environmental incidents, safety violations or near misses.
  • Monitor project progress, cost of labor, material, and productivity for project control and provide regular updates to team, management, and PMO during project review meetings
  • Manage contract change process and support invoicing/ final closure of the projects
  • Support the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract
  • Provide regular updates to team, management, and PMO on work performed, plans, budget, and overall status
  • Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules

What You Bring The ideal candidate will possess the following combination of experience, knowledge, and skills

  • Advanced French communication skills
  • English communication skills is an asset.
  • This position is in a French-speaking environment but requires fluency in English to comprehend documentation and technical terms from international sources, and to communicate with customers, suppliers, or international colleagues.
  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree or similar technical discipline from an accredited university or college, ie: Engineering Technologist
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or Construction management certification with advanced knowledge of project management processes & tools
  • Electrical installation and/or construction project management experience of 2 - 5 years or more, experience in projects with operating budgets >$1 million.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and proven track record of collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, including program management, construction services, engineering, operations, and logistics
  • Proven experience in managing subcontractors and/or field service personnel o Proven experience in project commercial reporting
  • Proven experience in project closure and handover processes o Travel may be up to 30% and may include international travel.
