About the role
Data Engineer
Saskatoon
At Vendasta, we’re leading the AI revolution from right here in Saskatoon—and beyond. We work together to empower our partners and customers through our AI-powered customer acquisition and engagement platform to help them get more customers—and keep them.
We’re looking for a Data Engineer who is energized by designing and maintaining scalable ELT pipelines and excited to transform raw data into reliable, structured insights that power decision-making across the business. In this role, you’ll play a key part in helping small and medium-sized businesses succeed—while shaping the future of AI for local economies.
Your Impact
As a Data Engineer you’ll work with the Business Intelligence & Analytics team, BI analysts, sales, and cross-functional business stakeholders to:
- Build and maintain robust ELT pipelines in Vendasta’s Kimball-style data warehouse using DBT and BigQuery.
- Ensure high-quality, accurate, and timely data delivery through validation, anomaly detection, and schema monitoring.
- Manage historical and hierarchical datasets with scalability and reusability in mind, while monitoring compute costs and performance.
- Collaborate with source system owners to extract, clean, and integrate data using prompt-based QA checks and reconciliation methods.
- Contribute to documentation, templates, and training resources to enable cross-functional data ownership.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, take ownership of projects, and drive continuous improvement in data governance, lineage, and workflow efficiency.
What You Bring to the Table
You have 3+ years of data engineering or related experience (ideally in SaaS or technology) and proficiency in SQL, Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, DBT, Looker), and Kimball data warehousing principles. You’re highly skilled at diagnosing and resolving data quality and performance issues while balancing the needs of both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Your strong communication and collaboration skills enable you to work seamlessly across teams—including sales and BI—while producing clear and concise documentation. You are detail-oriented, process-driven, and organized, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred/Asset Skills: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields, plus experience using AI assistants (SQL co-pilots, validation scripts, documentation tools) or automation to accelerate workflows.
Perks
Join the Vendasta team, where your well-being and growth come first. You’ll enjoy:
- Employee Options Program
- Daily snacks, vibrant cafeteria, and Friday lunches
- Education reimbursement and leadership development programs
- Community initiatives and volunteer opportunities
- A culture driven by our values: Drive, Innovation, Respect, and Agility
