SUMMARY

Reporting to the Purchasing and Administration Manager, the Purchaser is responsible for purchasing products for resale and inventory management of assigned product lines for the Quebec region, with facilities in Blainville and Quebec City. The Purchaser also facilitates the transfer of products with other branches.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Make purchases of required products and schedule replenishment cycles.
  • Schedule delivery of products to expected locations.
  • Identify products to be transferred from one branch to another instead of purchasing from suppliers.
  • Review and maintain assigned product line inventory levels including appropriate samples inventory.
  • Input correct information in JDE Purchasing such as lead times, review cycles, pack sizes, etc.
  • Work with sales team to eliminate aged inventory at the appropriate pricing.
  • Identify and target SKUs that are aged forward to General Manager for appropriate actions.
  • Familiar with supplier policies relating to claims and returns for defective stock.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with suppliers.
  • Make changes on price lists used by the sales department following price changes provided by suppliers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Minimum two years of purchasing experience
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Aptitude for details
  • Proficient with Excel and Word
  • Able to communicate effectively with internal staff and work in a team-focused environment
  • Able to work independently

LINGUISTIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Fluent in French
  • Intermediate English

EDUCATION

  • High school graduation
  • Diploma or certificate in business administration is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in the field of purchasing would also be an asset.

Employment Status
