McCain Foods (Canada) – Facilities and Building Services Team is currently seeking a Temporary Full-Time Relief Security Guard (Weekdays + Relief Coverage) to join the Florenceville, NB Facilities and Building Services team. This is a 1-year contract position with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing security services and maintaining a safe work environment at the Florenceville Complex. The regular schedule is Monday to Friday, with the expectation of covering relief shifts as needed, which may include 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities (Regular Monday-Friday):

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide professional customer service to employees, visitors, and contractors while maintaining a strong security presence.

  • Oversee contractor check-in and check-out procedures using ISN Networld, verifying compliance, required documentation, and calls to site contacts as required.

  • Manage visitor check-in and check-out, ensuring all site visitors are properly signed in and out each day, are issued a visitor pass, and that their site contact is notified upon arrival.

  • Maintain accurate daily visitor log records for site security and emergency reference.

  • Issue, manage, and maintain parking permit records, ensuring all employees and contractors have valid permits and up-to-date vehicle information.

  • Monitor and control access points entering the complex to ensure only authorized personnel enter.

  • Support enforcement of site policies, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.

  • Conduct routine patrols of site grounds to monitor visitor parking areas, ensuring compliance with parking permits and identifying any safety or security concerns.

SECURITY GATEHOUSE DUTIES (Relief Coverage-12-hour shift):

When required to provide coverage for other security team members, duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide services in a friendly and efficient manner. This includes promptly greeting visitors/contractors as they arrive and managing their needs in a timely fashion and directing calls as required.

  • Process and update access card requests as required, ensuring accurate user permissions within the Axiom access control system.

  • Management of five access control gates on site.

  • Tracking incoming/outgoing trucks and trailers ensuring accurate and up-to-date logistics records.

  • Responsible for scaling potato trucks and entering appropriate loads in PCR (Potato Contracting & Receiving).

  • Be aware of all duties contributing to the safeguard of the C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) program.

  • Monitor the fire alarm computer system and respond to any incoming alarms by notifying the appropriate personnel or emergency contacts as required by site procedures.

  • Conduct fire pager checks using the Fire Q system, dispatch the fire brigade when required, as well as use of a portable radio for communication.

  • Monitoring employees working alone, ensuring regular check-ins, and maintaining required documentation in accordance with company safety procedures.

  • Manage overflow and after-hours phone calls directed to the main office phone line.

  • Weekly security reporting.

  • Keep records of all keys being used for the complex.

  • Ensure steps and crosswalks leading to the gatehouse are kept clear of snow or ice.

  • Read, and follow all BOP’s (basic operation procedures).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have Grade 12 or equivalent, College Certificate/Diploma preferred.

  • Must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to deal with internal and external contacts.

  • Ability to project a professional image and interact effectively with all levels within and outside the organization.

  • Experienced and knowledgeable working with computers and applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Excellent attention to detail. Ability to work with speed and accuracy while being detail oriented.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Self-motivated and Customer focused.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • The employee has the ability to lift approx. 20 lbs.

  • The employee should be physically fit.

  • The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, hand tools and talk and hear.

  • Requires visual acuity to focus on computer screen.

  • Requires standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time, talking, and listening.

  • The employee is required to work in all types of weather conditions when required.

Selection of employees for promotion is based upon such factors as ability, special training, experience, job performance record, attendance, physical fitness, education, and length of service. Length of service will be the determining factor when all other factors are

relatively equal. An evaluation period will be used to determine the candidate’s suitability to the position.
