Summary:
The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the supply and inventory of packaging materials used in MULTIVAC Canada’s packaging solutions. This role ensures the timely and cost-effective procurement of high-quality materials to support production and customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Includes the following however other related duties may be assigned:
- Plan and forecast inventory needs in collaboration with sales and production teams.
- Monitor inventory levels, replenish as required and coordinate with logistics to ensure timely deliveries.
- Collaborate with sales and production teams to forecast demand and support new product development.
- Order placement with suppliers to meet order and forecast demands.
- Maintain active purchase orders for order confirmation and delivery.
- Analyze procurement costs and implement cost optimization strategies. Source and evaluate suppliers for film and trays.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms with vendors.
- Manage supplier relationships, including evaluation, negotiation, and performance tracking.
- Track supplier performance and resolve quality or delivery issues.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with internal policies and industry regulations.
- Support sustainability initiatives by sourcing recyclable or eco-friendly film options.
Time Utilization:
Normal business hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Qualifications:
Technical & Industry Knowledge:
- Understanding of packaging films (barrier properties, lamination, thermoforming, etc.)
- Familiarity with food safety and packaging compliance standards (e.g., CFIA, FDA)
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field
- 4–7 years of procurement experience, preferably in packaging or manufacturing
Core Skills:
- Strategic sourcing and supplier negotiation
- Inventory and demand planning
- Cost analysis and budgeting
- ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
- Contract management
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
