##Division overview

TheFinance and Corporate Services Divisionleads all services to secure a sound financial, project management and information technology platform and ensures that the organization has the technical, operational, infrastructure, and change management capabilities necessary to achieve the maximum impact for its mandate and budget. The team works alongside all divisions in managing financial and project aspects of programs and initiatives that aim to deliver on the priorities of the 2019-2029Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control.

##Overview of role

The Cloud Engineer supports the Finance & Corporate Services Division in supporting projects and initiatives to achieve organizational priorities. Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Data and Solutions, the incumbent supports the design, operations, security, and optimization of the Partnership’s cloud environment. As a highly organized professional with strong time management skills, this position delivers on the tasks of the job while contributing to the Partnership’s overall vision to reduce the burden of cancer on all Canadians.

##Core responsibilities and activities

####Program Specific Accountabilities

  • Implements detailed designs and configurations for the Partnership’s Information Technology (IT) and Information System (IS) cloud infrastructure to support the organization’s business operations.
  • Administers and maintains Microsoft Modern Workplace and cloud environments to support the effective operations of the Partnership’s work environment. Develop and maintains comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure, processes, and procedures.
  • Recommends and implements process improvements through task automation, streamlining, and other methods.
  • Supports the investigation and resolution of day-to-day cloud incidents, conducts root cause analysis, and monitors Microsoft updates.
  • Supports day-to-day IT service requests and operations
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the Partnership’s IT and IS infrastructure align to business goals and that IT services and systems are implemented in a secure, cohesive, functional, timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and mitigates IT and IS risks.
  • Monitors emerging technology trends and provides technical input on IT strategy.
  • Supports the evaluation of new technology, business requirements and supports the planning and designing of solutions.
  • Supports disaster recovery practice and cybersecurity practice to strengthen organizational preparedness for adverse events.
  • Implements data management practices to ensure compliance with privacy and security standards and supports auditing processes.
  • Incorporates change management principles to any changes to the Partnership’s IT/IS systems.
  • Liaises with vendors on infrastructure and system changes.

###General accountabilities

  • Supports the Enterprise Architect in defining and enhancing cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity strategy.
  • Acts as a contact and source of information for internal and external stakeholders regarding specific IT program/project content, status, and findings.
  • Prepares reports and briefing materials to present information, findings, options and recommendations to management and other stakeholders
  • Represents the IT team at internal or external meetings as well as other forums as needed.
  • Assists other members of the IT team including the Director as needed.
  • Assists the Director with other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.

##Experience and Qualifications

  • University undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, or other relevant discipline, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of cloud administration and cloud engineering with 3+ years experience in Microsoft Modern Workplace and Azure platforms, preferably in the non-profit or healthcare sector.
  • Proficient in the management and implementation of Azure, Microsoft Modern Workplace and other cloud technologies.
  • Proficient in the management of databases, data warehouses, and data analytics platforms.
  • Strong understanding of security, compliance, and governance frameworks.
  • Proficient in scripting and development of custom applications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive).
  • Working knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies and tools.
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML operations or data infrastructure is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Linux is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive, adaptable and able to independently troubleshoot and research solutions.
  • Able to independently learn new technologies.
  • Able to work effectively across technical and business teams.
  • Education or experience with First Nations, Inuit and Métis is an asset.
  • Bilingual in both English and French is an asset.
