- Monday - Thursday: 8:10 AM to 3:30 PM
- Friday: 8:10 AM to 11:55 AM (Staff will be required to stay longer when training is being held)

ABOUT THE POSITION: We are seeking applications for an Educational Assistant to work with our Levels elementary students, to prepare them for the grades ahead. Everything we do in Grasslands supports student learning and achievement and this position requires an applicant who works well under pressure and in energetic environments while upholding the values of the division. This role requires pertinence, kindness, and resiliency, and an understanding of the importance of this role for our students, colleagues, and community.
ABOUT THE LEVELS PROGRAM: The Grasslands Levels Program is designed to meet the needs of students with intellectual or complex medical disabilities. The program emphasizes the development of skills required for the highest level of independent functioning, the student is capable of, to facilitate the transition to adult life. Functional and adaptive skills including independent living, life, social and employment skills are emphasized through a variety of activities within the school and the community. Having an innovative mindset to design and deliver plans that guide students to meet their fullest potential, and the ability to develop and implement assessment tools and techniques, based on modified expectations of the Alberta Education Programs of Studies, would be considered an asset for this role.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL: located in Brooks, Alberta, is a part of the Grasslands Public Schools community of locations within the City of Brooks and the surrounding County of Newell. Griffin serves approximately 420 students in Pre-Kindergarten, Early English Language Learner, and Kindergarten to grade 6, classrooms. Griffin Park School also houses the Grasslands Elementary Levels program.

**Job Duties:**
- support students in instruction as well as with physical, social and behavioral needs;
- encourage positive interactions between students and staff;
- work closely and collaboratively with school staff including, but not limited to, classroom teachers and administration;
- position may include activities such as lifting, transferring, and providing personal care, as necessary; and
- position may have involvement in student school activities such as swimming or outdoor sports and may require the EA to participate with students.
**Ideal candidates skills & abilities:**
- Strong communication skills; written, verbal and reading.
- Ability to assist with all subject areas for the grade supporting.
- Must be able to support students with literacy and numeracy.
- Excellent problem solving, organizational and multitasking skills.
- Enjoys working with elementary level students and being in an environment with Pre-K and Kindergarten level students.
- Understanding and appreciation of Grasslands Public Schools mission and values.
- Able to contribute to a classroom and social environment that put students first by support diversity and inclusion in alignment with Grasslands values.
- Respect and value all individuals with sensitivity to diversity.
- Understanding of how the role of Educational Assistant impacts the community.
- Personal integrity and trustworthiness and able to establish trust and rapport with students and coworkers.
**Education and Certifications:**
- High School diploma
- experience working with children or other vulnerable populations in an educational, health care, or related setting
**Considered an asset but not a requirement:**
- Post-secondary training in education, as an Educational Assistant, or a related profession would be considered an asset
- 2 + years working with children or in an education setting would be considered an asset
- combination of education and experience may be considered.
