Job Title: Executive Housekeeper
Job Description
The Executive Housekeeper performs and leads by example on daily housekeeping tasks within a commercial building/office tower, while helping keep the site to a high, professional standard. In addition to hands-on cleaning of common areas, tenant floors, washrooms, entrances, lobbies, and elevators, this role takes ownership of quality, supplies, and checklists, and acts as a senior point of contact on shift. Tasks include but are not limited to sweeping, vacuuming, dry/wet mopping, dusting, disinfecting, glass and entrance cleaning, and waste removal, as per contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Opening (20% Time Spent) Check all washrooms and make sure supplies are stocked and ready for the day. Tour common areas and tenant floors to check for spills, litter, and hazards. Ensure furniture, signage, and garbage containers are in their proper locations. Clean entrance and lobby glass. Ensure compactor and loading areas are clean. Vacuum and clean the administration/management office daily. Help set daily priorities for the crew and confirm everyone knows their assigned areas.
Day / Evening (60% Time Spent)
Clean, wash, squeegee, and polish entranceway glass, door frames, thresholds, and windowsills, inside and out (as weather permits) throughout the day. Sweep and/or mop entrance and common-area floors as required, using "Caution – Wet Floor" signs until dry and safe. Vacuum and/or wet-vac entrance matting and carpeted areas as required. Immediately clean up standing water or spills in entrances, corridors, lobbies, and elevators. Empty, clean, and reline garbage cans and sanitize waste receptacles inside and out. Pick up visible litter in and around entrances, lobbies, and common areas throughout the day. Check washrooms on a regular rotational basis to ensure they are clean and stocked (at minimum every 2 hours off-season; hourly during peak periods or special events, or as required). Disinfect toilet bowls, seats, covers, and urinals; empty and reline sanitary disposal containers. Clean countertops, backsplashes, cupboard doors, mirrors, and all other washroom surfaces. Replenish soap, paper towels, and tissue as necessary. Fill out washroom check sheets daily (until the web system is in use). Dust and clean benches, seating, planters, tables, and directories, and remove litter as required. Wipe down walls, light switches, doors, frames, baseboards, trims, and ledges on a rotational basis. Clean and polish fire extinguisher housings, emergency exit signs, fire bells, pull stations, handrails, kick plates, and directory signs on a regular basis. High-dust columns, vents, and signage with a telescopic duster on a weekly basis. Dust mop and wash service corridor floors using walk-behind machines as required. Compact garbage and cardboard at compactors throughout the day and dispose of pre-sorted waste per the site's Recycling and Waste Diversion Program. Contact waste haulers when the compactor requires pick-up and clean/pressure-wash the area when the unit is removed. Remove graffiti immediately from interior and exterior areas and report to the Supervisor. Report broken doors, glass, tiles, flooring, loose railings, damaged furniture, or any other hazards to the Supervisor/Manager immediately. Respond immediately to tenant, client, or staff concerns regarding supplies or cleanliness. Keep storage and equipment rooms clean, orderly, and secure, and ensure products are stored and labelled per WHMIS. Maintain and submit inventory lists of cleaning and paper supplies to the Supervisor/Manager monthly. Fill out and maintain the Porter/Housekeeping Risk Management Log daily. Respond immediately to calls from the Team Leader, Supervisor, or Manager. Assist exterior staff with sidewalks, ice melt, sand, and debris during winter months. Respond to fire and/or sprinkler alarms as per emergency procedures and always follow basic safety and security procedures. Assist with promotion, display, and/or table set-up when requested. Complete all applicable incident report forms as required.
Closing (20% Time Spent)
Ensure all garbage is compacted in the holding areas. Change all interior garbage receptacles and clean all sleeves. Wipe and clean all washroom walls and ensure ceilings are free of spots. Ensure dryers and vents are free of dust. Make sure washrooms are fully stocked. Clean all toilet seats top to bottom. Do a final walkthrough of assigned areas and confirm the crew has completed their tasks to standard. Lock up and secure storage/equipment rooms and report any outstanding issues to the Supervisor.
Leadership Support
Lead by example and set the standard for quality, appearance, and professionalism on shift. Help guide, mentor, and answer questions from Porters and cleaning staff, and demonstrate proper cleaning methods and equipment use. Perform spot quality checks of key areas (lobbies, washrooms, entrances) and flag anything that needs re-cleaning. Act as the senior point of contact on shift when the Team Leader/Supervisor is unavailable, escalating issues as needed. Assist the Supervisor with training new staff and communicating daily priorities and safety reminders.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Education
Previous commercial or office-tower cleaning experience preferred. Ability to safely operate housekeeping equipment and supplies, including walk-behind and floor-care machines. Ability to work to a high standard with attention to detail and take ownership of quality on shift. Ability to physically perform the duties of the position and stand/walk for prolonged periods. Ability to attend work on a regular, ongoing, consistent basis. Ability to understand and implement all policies and procedures related to the janitorial work performed, including WHMIS. Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English. Must be able to perform all cleaning tasks. Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
