As our business continues to grow, we are seeking a highly motivated Junior Project Engineer / Project Coordinator to join our team and develop into a future Project Manager and Owner’s Representative. This position offers direct mentorship from senior leadership and exposure to all phases of project delivery, from planning and design through construction, commissioning, and turnover.
Position Summary
The Junior Project Engineer / Project Coordinator will support the successful delivery of mission-critical and hyperscale data center projects throughout North America.
The successful candidate will assist with
Project planning and coordination Design management Construction management Commissioning activities Project controls and reporting Consultant and contractor coordination Client communications Business development support This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, coordinating teams, learning technical systems, and building a long-term career in technical systems, project management and data center development.
Primary Responsibilities
Project Management Support multiple active projects simultaneously Assist with project schedules, budgets, and forecasting Maintain action item logs and project trackers Participate in project meetings and workshops Prepare meeting agendas and meeting minutes Track project risks, issues, and mitigation plans Support project closeout and turnover activities Other duties as necessary Design Management Coordinate AE & MEP engineering consultants Track design deliverables and submission schedules Support design reviews and value engineering efforts Review technical reports and design documentation Monitor design progress against project milestones Other duties as necessary Construction Management Participate in construction site visits Monitor construction progress and contractor performance Track RFIs, submittals, and change orders Assist with deficiency tracking and resolution Support field observations and reporting Other duties as necessary Commissioning Support
- Assist with commissioning planning and scheduling Support integrated systems testing activities Witness testing events as required Track commissioning deficiencies and corrective actions Support final turnover documentation reviews Reporting and Documentation Prepare project status reports Develop executive summaries and dashboards Maintain project records and document control systems Assist with budget tracking and reporting Support client presentations and project updates Business Development Support Assist with proposal preparation Support client presentations and meetings Participate in industry events and conferences Assist in development of company standards and procedures Qualifications Education Candidates should possess one of the following: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management Construction Engineering Technology Diploma Civil Engineering Technology Diploma Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma Project Management Degree or Diploma Equivalent combination of education and experience Experience 0–5 years of relevant experience Co-op and internship experience considered an asset Experience in engineering consulting, construction, project management, commissioning, or industrial facilities considered an asset Preferred Technical Skills Experience with some or all of the following: Microsoft Office Suite Microsoft Word & Excel Microsoft Project Bluebeam Revu Adobe Acrobat SharePoint Procore Autodesk Construction Cloud Primavera P6 AutoCAD Revit Ability to: Read and interpret engineering drawings Review construction documentation Understand project schedules Manage project documentation Coordinate multiple stakeholders Preferred Industry Exposure Experience or education involving: Data Centers Mission Critical Facilities Electrical Infrastructure Mechanical Systems Utility Infrastructure Building Systems Construction Management Commissioning Industrial Facilities Travel Requirements The successful candidate must: Possess a valid driver’s license Maintain a satisfactory driving record Have access to own vehicle transportation Possess a valid Canadian passport or be eligible to obtain one Be eligible to travel throughout Canada and the United States Be willing to travel up to 15% of the time Be willing to travel overnight when required Additional Requirements Legally authorized to work in Canada Ability to obtain security clearances when required Ability to pass client-required background screenings Ability to work safely on active construction sites Ability to wear required PPE Strong written communication skills Strong verbal communication skills Excellent organizational skills Professional client-facing demeanor Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Physical Requirements Ability to walk active construction sites Ability to climb stairs and ladders Ability to work in industrial and datacenter environments Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs Compensation and Benefits Salary Range The expected base salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000 per year. The starting salary will be determined based on factors such as the successful candidate's skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related and business considerations. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may include incentive pay and a comprehensive benefits program. Details will be provided to the successful candidate at the time of offer.
