Job Description
Driver Development Training Program:
- One on one training with a skilled driver coach
- Eight-weeks of paid, industry specific training in Ayr, ON
- Training focuses on backing skills, local/city/highway driving, safe loading and delivering techniques
- Company driver position following successful completion of training
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily runs to Michigan
- Transport solid waste from the transfer stations to various landfills
- Inspect vehicles daily for mechanical items and safety issues to ensure safe operation and public safety
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, equipment damage and property damage when applicable
- Document and log driving/break periods in Kilometers on Daily Trip Report and E-logs in accordance with DOT & MTO Regulations
- Retain copies of fuel, and border toll receipts, as well as pick-up and delivery tickets to complete daily paperwork
- Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation of vehicles, carriage of goods, Hours of Service, occupational health and safety, customs and immigration, weights and dimensions
- Approximately 600Km-1100km a day, 10-14 hour runs
- Home nightly
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
- Valid AZ License
- Must be able to cross US border in a CMV daily
- Ability to provide a clean Driver’s Abstract, CVOR Abstract, criminal check and DOT regulated drug testing.
- Great attitude and work ethic
- Knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
- High level of personal integrity
- Eagerness to learn and develop skills
- Dedicated and strong work ethic
- Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
