UNIX Midrange Support
About the role
UNIX Midrange Support Specialist Our client is seeking experienced UNIX Midrange Support Specialists to provide system administration and technical support across a hybrid work environment. This role involves managing UNIX systems, supporting server infrastructure, and contributing to documentation, security, and user training. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Red Hat, SuSe, AIX, and Azure, and will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic IT environment.
Your Success Will Be Defined By Your Ability To
- Administer and support UNIX systems including Red Hat, SuSe, and AIX (3-5 years of experience required)
- Provide technical support for storage (IBM/NetApp) and backup systems (NetBackup)
- Manage Microsoft Server and Azure environments from a system administration perspective
- Create and maintain technical documentation and user guides for new systems and updates
- Ensure system security through effective permission management and access controls
- Deliver server and application maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
- Provide user training and support to ensure smooth adoption of new technologies
- Participate in on-call rotations and adjust work hours as needed to meet operational demands
Your strengths include:
- Certified professional designation in a related technical field
- 2-4 years of formal education (technical school or university)
- Proven experience in UNIX system administration and Azure support
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Ability to manage system security and permissions effectively
- Experience in technical support and troubleshooting
- Comfortable working in a hybrid environment with occasional onsite sessions
- Ability to work within a decentralized IT structure and collaborate across teams
