KCC has an opening for a full-time Children’s Pastor. The Children’s Pastor will translate church-wide vision into impactful ministry strategies that foster the spiritual growth of children and families while cultivating deep-rooted discipleship and community connection. They will lead the Children’s Ministry through high-quality teaching and pastoral presence, while directing the Children’s Coordinator in the execution of daily operations and administrative systems to ensure a safe, thriving, and healthy ministry environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Pastoral Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, contemporary teaching and leadership focused on the spiritual development and discipleship of children and families
- Provide pastoral care and leadership in crises, tragedies, emergencies, and community incidents; support families and ministries through trauma and grief
- Maintain high visibility and availability to the congregation before and after services as duties allow to foster community and connection
- Stay current with ministry trends by listening to podcasts, reading books, periodicals and attending approved conferences, updating the pastoral staff as to changes in culture
- Mentor and supervise interns assigned to KCC as required, holding them accountable as per KCC guidelines
- Follow up with visitors to KCC to integrate them into the life of the church
- Participate in all regular worship services, staff meetings, retreats, and attend special conferences and seminars as directed
- Ministry Oversight
- Partner with the Lead and Executive Pastors to translate church-wide vision into measurable goals, long-range plans, and annual priorities for the Children’s Ministry
- Provide direct oversight, strategic direction, and mentorship to the Children’s Coordinator in their execution of administrative tasks, weekly preparations and volunteer coordination
- Create and manage the financial budget alongside Executive Pastor for related ministries
- Foster and promote interdepartmental cooperation across KCCS ministries in alignment with KCCS values and objectives
- Work with external regional organizations focused on families and children
- Work with Executive Pastor to hire, onboard, mentor, and evaluate direct reports as required, providing training, resources and leadership development
- Safeguard the Children’s ministry environment by ensuring all systems, volunteers, and protocols comply with provincial/federal regulations and KCC standards
- Perform other duties as assigned or required to support overall mission of the church
Qualifications
- Demonstrates a commitment to, and a lifestyle reflective of, the KCCS Foundational Beliefs
- Shares the vision of KCC to fulfill the Great Commission with integrity, passion, and a servant’s heart
- Experience in children’s ministry leadership and the ability to inspire, lead, and disciple children and families toward spiritual growth
- Demonstrates emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle difficult conversations and conflict with biblical grace and wisdom
- Strong critical and creative thinking abilities, with an adaptable mindset and a commitment to continuous learning and cultural awareness
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both children and adults
- Ability to work both independently and in cooperation as a team
- Basic computer skills, document editing, spreadsheets and church software; proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Google Docs, Zoom
What we offer
- Salary range: $65,206 – $68,549 annually
