About The Team PetSmart’s Canada Home Office (CHO) is home to approximately 50+ associates who work in departments such as Merchandising, Marketing, Demand Planning, Pricing, Space Planning, Digital/e-Commerce, Human Resources, Legal, IT and more. The small but mighty team at the CHO supports the operations of 160+ PetSmart stores in Canada and works closely with counterparts at PetSmart’s global corporate headquarters located in Phoenix, Arizona. We also share the Canada Home Office with our colleagues at PetSmart Charities of Canada—an independent, registered charity. PetSmart Charities of Canada is committed to making the world a better place for pets and all who love them by connecting pets with loving homes through adoption, improving access to veterinary care and supporting families in times of crisis with access to pet food, shelter, and emergency relief.

About the Location At PetSmart, teamwork and connection are core to how we thrive. This role is based at our Canada Home Office, with an expectation of working a minimum of three days in the office each week. In a standard work week, associates may work up to two remote “flex day” (with leader approval). Our hybrid approach is designed to foster strong collaboration while also supporting flexibility and individual success.

About The Job As part of the Marketing team, the Sr. Partner Marketing Manager will be responsible for creating and implementing omni-channel marketing initiatives with Vendor partners to drive growth at PetSmart. This role will blend brand strategy, marketing content development, media strategy and program leadership. This leader will have a strategic retail marketing background, with experience delivering successful in-store (experiential and promotional), paid media (acquisition and retention) initiatives for brands and/or categories with a diverse product portfolio. As the leader building relationships and rapport across multiple brand partners, they will consistently marry business insights and innovation to create curated marketing plans that drive results. This individual holds Customer First, Responsible Leadership and Excellence in All we Do as key values that drive their actions. They are a critical influencer and strong collaborator across all functions of our business and with our Vendor partners. This position reports to the Senior Director, Marketing.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the creation and execution of innovative consumer content and branded experiences that expand the Anything For Pets brand platform that brings new customers to PetSmart, building on our brand equity and delivering category growth.
  • Develop and support the executional process for unique omni-channel, consumer insight-led marketing programs that delight pet parents and deliver value for internal & external stakeholders.
  • Create relevant stories and promotional programs for pet parents that deliver solutions for the unique needs of their pets while driving Vendor strategies and growth goals.
  • Lead the annual Joint Business Planning process resulting in an aligned program calendar and revenue commitment for Merchandising, Marketing, and Vendor partners.
  • Champion the campaign process start to finish for all Vendor developed programs inclusive of alignment on marketing initiatives, writing briefs, tracking project progress and ensure on time/budget execution.
  • Lead with a growth mindset and test/learn mentality to consistently evaluate improvement and opportunities for innovation.
  • Drive the translation of complex data, insights and results into scalable opportunities.
  • Collaborate and partner with key cross-functional teams across Marketing, Merchandising, Creative as well as media and digital agencies to execute with excellence and deliver results.
  • Update internal partners & marketing leadership on the results from various initiatives, including key measurements, learnings and next steps.
  • Manage forecast, tracking and accuracy of assigned budget line items.

Competency Requirements:

  • Track record of delivering successful and innovative marketing initiatives that drive business performance metrics (not just marketing engagement or reach) and create affinity for your company/brand.
  • Ability to create go-to-market programs using digital media, in-store opportunities and data-driven insights.
  • Strategic self-starter. Ability to define and kick-start new initiatives, clearly identifying actionable KPI and targets, and see through to successful execution and on-time delivery.
  • Data-driven decision maker. Experience with demographic and behavioural data to identify opportunities to create innovative and highly personalized digital growth strategies for customers and prospects.
  • Highly organized and process-oriented, committed to optimizing and enhancing the status quo to outperform set objectives in new and innovative ways.
  • Encourages a test and learn marketing culture, tactically identifying the right opportunities, learning from these experiences and then scaling what works.
  • An agile and enthusiastic learner that balances autonomy and a desire to learn from and share ideas with others.
  • An agile teammate and multidisciplined marketer, excited to lend a hand to teammates and broader team initiatives when needed.

Education / Experience

  • University degree in Business, Marketing, or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant marketing/strategy experience; retail industry experience an asset (ideally Omnichannel), or agency experience servicing retail industry business developing and executing strategic marketing plans.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills, with attention to detail
  • Exceptional ability to convince and influence at multiple levels and across the organization.
  • Solutions-oriented mindset and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate to senior executives internally and to external partners.
  • Must have the ability to travel to the US as needed/required.
  • A love of pets (of course!)
