Position Overview
We're seeking a detail-oriented and organized Junior Accountant to join our growing team in a hands-on accounting role supporting multiple operating companies. This position is ideal for someone with strong full-cycle accounting experience who's comfortable managing day-to-day accounting operations independently while also supporting broader finance and administrative functions as needed.
The successful candidate will initially take primary responsibility for one company within the group while assisting with accounting and operational tasks across additional entities during busy periods.
This is an on-site position based in Etobicoke (Mon.-Thurs. on-site, Fri. Work from Home).
Key Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Accounting
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations for an assigned company
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare and issue customer invoices
- Monitor collections and follow up on outstanding receivables
- Record bank, credit card, and journal entries
- Process expense reports and vendor payments
Month-End & Reconciliations
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies
- Assist with month-end close procedures and working papers
- Support preparation of internal financial reporting packages
- Ensure supporting documentation is complete and organized
Sales Tax & Compliance
- Prepare and process GST/HST filings
- Maintain accurate sales tax records
- Assist with payroll-related reconciliations and government remittances as required
- Support audit and external accountant requests
Systems & Administrative Support
- Work extensively within QuickBooks Online
- Maintain organized electronic accounting files and documentation
- Assist with process improvements and accounting workflow organization
- Support additional companies and finance projects as workload permits
Qualifications

2+ years of experience in full-cycle accounting or bookkeeping

Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online

Experience with:
- invoicing and accounts receivable
- accounts payable

- month-end close procedures
- GST/HST filings

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities

Strong communication and problem-solving abilities

Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with multiple entities or related companies
- Experience in professional services, staffing, healthcare, or consulting environments
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- Pursuing or interested in pursuing an accounting designation is considered an asset
