About the role
Forbes Bros Ltd. is currently seeking a qualified Project Manager III (full-time, permanent) to join our team on various projects throughout British Columbia. This position will be based out of Surrey, British Columbia office requiring frequent travel to and from various project sites.
The Project Manager III will be responsible providing overall guidance and management to one or more construction projects with the responsibility for ensuring compliance with client requirements. Additionally, the Project Manager will assume a leadership role and oversee and provide guidance for internal requirements for safety, quality, schedule, and cost for all assigned projects. The successful candidate will have prior experience in substation, transmission, civil and/or industrial construction and demonstrate strong understanding of project management processes and execute leadership skills with the ability to analyze data and provide professional judgement and solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lives Forbes Bros. value of WE WORK SAFE & never compromising on safety in all aspects of our every day
- Obtains technical guidance required to support Project technical issues and guides field teams as required
- Prepares and submits Requests for Information and similar documents to obtain a response to technical questions from Client and/or Engineer
- Ensure completion of subcontractor pre-qualifications
- Completes subcontract package preparation and issues package for bidding and ensures issue of subcontract in accordance with Company policy
- Ensures preparation and transmittal of submittals required for approval of technical issues, vendor documents, and material information
- Ensures Project quality requirements are incorporated into field installation requirements
- Ensures tracking and collection of quality documents and provides correction of and proper documentation of field quality issues.
- Supports development of field quality procedures
- Reads, reviews, and understands Client Contract content and requirements and instructs and inform others of Contract requirements
- Communicates with or supervises communication with Client concerning changes in Contract scope or terms with goal to obtain appropriate Contract Change Order
- Ensures preparation and submittal of necessary Change Order information to Client
- Negotiates both simple and complex Change Orders based on Company guidance
- Communicates with or supervises communication with Client concerning changes in Contract scope or terms with goal to obtain appropriate Contract Change Order
- Acts as Company representative to Client within limits of authority
- Prepares and publishes required Project reports which may include daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports
- Schedules and may host regular Project review meetings including Project Kickoff and Closeout Meetings
- Develops (or supports development of) and ensures implementation of Project plans for HSE, Quality, overall execution, cost management, change management and other areas
- Prepares or recommends plan modifications to support better execution and compliance with Project requirements
- Tracks and manages overall changes in the Project
- Acts to prevent potentially negative HSE, quality, cost, schedule, etc. impacts to Company and Project
- Reports changes to Company or other Departments as required
- Ensures tracking of defined Project risk conditions, tracking of cost and other impacts associated with Project risks and identifies new potential risks as Project progresses
- Seeks ways to mitigate risks to prevent negative impacts to the Company and Project
- General management and reporting of all projects within scope
- Other projects & duties as assigned
What We Are Looking For:
- Minimum ten (1) years' experience in a field involving linear construction such as civil, utilities or industrial construction**, is required**
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Project Management, or an engineering discipline related to the company's work is preferred. A combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Experience managing construction projects with contract values of at least $10 million
- Knowledge of main construction office processes; project set-up; subcontract management; change orders; RFI's; closeout
- Proven experience with providing direction and managing multiple concurrent projects
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Project and Primavera P6
- Able and willing to travel to and work in remote project locations, embedded in operational work groups
- Have and maintain a valid driver license and acceptable give (5) year drivers abstract
