Chemical Operator The Role Operate and maintain chemical handling and wastewater treatment systems in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner, while supporting plant operations and adhering to all HSE, quality, and regulatory requirements. Maintain confidentiality related to plant operations. This is a Full Time Days position at our Portage la Prairie, MB site. What You’ll Do - Comply with all HSE policies, procedures, and applicable safety requirements - Report accidents, incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and safety violations - Start up, shut down, operate, troubleshoot, and clean chemical-related equipment in the chemical building and wastewater area - Receive chemicals in tanks in line with safety and quality requirements - Manage transportation and delivery of chemicals within the plant - Ensure availability of chemicals for wastewater neutralization and plant operations - Monitor and control usage of process chemicals (e.g., Hydrochloric Acid, Caustic, Formic Acid, Citric Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Peracetic Acid, CIP Additive) - Perform chemical sampling, analysis, and maintain accurate documentation - Complete all required safety inspections (hoses, fire extinguishers, safety showers, etc.) - Maintain SAP entries and documentation accurately and on time - Maintain a clean work environment and report deviations or issues - Communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, managers, team leaders, and contractors - Support safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory compliance across the site - Perform other duties as assigned What You’ll Need Functional Competencies - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Team player - Ability to work with minimal supervision - Strong organizational skills - Attention to detail and accuracy Technical Competencies - Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) - Experience with WMS/ERP systems (SAP an asset) Qualifications & Experience - High school diploma or equivalent - 2–3 years of operational experience handling chemicals - Forklift certification - WHMIS knowledge - Basic computer skills - SAP knowledge (asset) - Experience with HMI systems (asset) - Knowledge of pumps, valves, and general operations (asset) Physical & Work Requirements - Ability to lift up to 55 lbs repeatedly - Ability to climb stairs up to 4 stories - Ability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods - Ability to work in hot, cold, humid, and outdoor environments Work Environment - Exposure to dangerous chemical substances - Hazardous conditions and equipment - Noisy industrial environment Additional Requirements - Adhere to all Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, and regulatory standards - Maintain confidentiality of plant operations If you identify yourself in this position, please apply by uploading your resume and let's start the journey together!
