O’Brien overhead cranes are manufactured locally in Memramcook, New Brunswick, and provide an optimal solution for your day-to-day or industry-specific lifting requirements. We are currently seeking a Production/Installation Manager to join our team.

SUMMARY

The Production & Installation Manager is responsible for managing and leading a strong team of Production and Installers to ensure the successful implementation of O’Brien projects and corporate goals. The Production & Installation Manager will interact with the sales team, purchasing department, Engineering, Finance along with customers. Travelling is required for this role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSILBITIES

  • Developing and maintaining a robust Project Management system.
  • Streamlining processes and continually reviewing procedures and processes to ensure they are best practices for improving overall department quality and functionality
  • Create archival records of projects for OEM manuals & for Service dept use
  • Liaise with vendors to negotiate on-hand inventory and specialty components
  • Accommodate CWB compliance audits and required documentation
  • Issue and maintain purchase orders
  • Visit job sites to determine clearances and scope of work.
  • Assisting Estimating in the quoting process when required.
  • Managing production to meet sales objectives.
  • Ensuring all projects stay on target and within budget
  • Overseeing the manufacturing and installation schedules.
  • Travel to customer sites assisting on installations when required
  • Review all quality and safety issues related to manufacturing.
  • Ensure that safety inspections for all equipment in a timely manner.
  • Supporting Installation Crews with onsite support
  • Improving installation efficiency through training, investments in equipment, sales/customer education, and standardization.
  • Train new staff to adhere to O’Brien standards and expectation.
  • Responsible for workplace health and safety for installation and production crews.
  • Liaise with sales and finance to forecast kits and materials requirements.
  • Ensure procurement of all technical details are assimilated from the sales team
  • Update internal systems with initial job and/or changes to work scope
  • Ensure all materials ordered to meet timelines of production requirements
  • Keep abreast of latest technical and safety improvements in the industry
  • Coordinate with Finance to set budgetary needs
  • Liaise with external engineering for production quality adherence
  • Assess staffing levels in order to meet project deadlines
  • Maintain and organize shop and facilities to meet leasing requirements

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read mechanical and blueprints
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Understanding of W47.1 and W59 welding standards
  • SolidWorks experience is considered an asset
  • Experience working with AS400 is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Mircosoft ERP/CRM systems.
  • Must be organized and detailed
  • Must have a general working knowledge of all machinery under their supervision
  • Understand the duties and skills of those employees in the assigned area
  • Understand the general maintenance requirements of machinery and equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of all safety, operational & quality policies, procedures and programs
  • Ability to show initiative and stay ahead of the planned workload

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in structural engineering or related fields such as PTech
  • All position CWB ticket in SMAW and FCAW
  • Hold CWB Level 2 Welding Inspectors Certificate is an asset
  • Project Management education an asset.
  • Experience in overhead cranes, project management, Engineering consulting or in construction management an asset.
