The Role:

Reporting to the VP, Finance, you will be responsible for overseeing Kobo’s global tax function, ensuring compliance across all areas of tax, including corporate income tax, indirect tax, withholding tax, and transfer pricing. Specifically, you will be involved in:

  • Managing Kobo’s compliance calendar, including timing and coordination of required tax payments and filings
  • Liaising with external tax consultants on compliance and advisory matters, including the review of tax returns, memos, and provision workpapers
  • Providing in-house tax expertise on various ad hoc tax matters, and communicating these with management and other internal stakeholders
  • Facilitating the transfer pricing and international reporting process by working with global counterparts
  • Monitoring current and upcoming changes in the global tax landscape and determining their impact on Kobo’s operations
  • Reviewing existing tax processes and making recommendations to improve current practices

Recommended Skillset:

  • CPA
  • 8+ years of experience in corporate and/or indirect tax roles, with recent experience managing teams or multiple concurrent projects
  • Desire to develop a breadth of knowledge in all areas of tax
  • Proactive, highly organized, and detail-oriented
  • Familiarity with provisions and tax accounting under IFRS
