About the role

Who We Are

Join us at the First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB), where we support First Nations to strengthen their governance and financial practices. Since our establishment in 2006 under the First Nations Fiscal Management Act, we have been dedicated to providing fully optional tools and services tailored to meet the unique needs of First Nations communities.

As an independent organization governed by a Board of Directors, the FMB is committed to fostering self-determination and financial sustainability. Be a part of our mission to support First Nations in achieving their financial goals and enhancing their administrative capabilities.

This role is an 8-week term position open to youth between the ages of 15-30 as part of the Canada Summer Jobs program.

What You Will Do

  • Assists with the coordination of events including conferences, seminars, dinners, and training sessions.
  • Ensures that events progress seamlessly by following established procedures, collaborating with other employees, and ensuring a high-level of accuracy.
  • Supports internal and external event communications.
  • Maintains detailed and accurate event files such as exhibitor databases, contract, and financial information.
  • Helps to coordinate event materials such as schedules, badges, swag, equipment, and supplies.
  • Provides administrative support, tracking registrations and events inbox.
  • Assist with coordinating travel logistics.
  • Delivers excellent client service throughout the client or potential client experience.
  • Stays available to solve problems and/or suggest alternatives to previous arrangements.

Who You Are

  • Desire to pursue event planning and/or formal education in administrative support.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including outstanding oral and written communication capabilities in English; French language a strong asset.
  • Exceptional organizational and teamwork skills.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Must have an understanding, awareness and appreciation of Indigenous culture and history.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing education and training for the role including Indigenous Cultural studies.
