Position Overview Under the direction of the Nurse in Charge, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing direct patient care management within his or her scope of practice as outline by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba and in collaboration with other health team professionals. LPN’s provide acute, restorative, rehabilitate, personal and respite nursing care to assist individuals in achieving and/or maintaining their optimum level of health.
Experience
- Previous acute care experience.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Graduate of a recognized diploma and/or degree program in nursing.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM).
- Current CPR Certification.
- ACLS an asset.
Qualifications And Skills
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to foster good public relationships and effective working relationships.
- Demonstrates a calm and confident manner during emergency and/or difficult situations.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Possible eye strain.
- Possible heavy lifting.
- Possible posture and muscle problems.
- Possible contact with clients/patients with aggressive behaviour.
- Working with sharp objects.
- Other demands as it pertains to position.
- Possible extreme fatigue due to shift work.
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases.
- Extreme outside weather conditions.
- High levels of stress.
- High level of alertness required at all times.
- Competing priorities.
- High expectations.
- High level of confidentiality required.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment. Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
