ABOUT THE TEAM
The Private Investment Risk Group performs all fundamental analyses, including initial assessments and annual reviews. For private investment transactions, our group assigns internal risk ratings and specific covenants to each transaction to ensure that the risk profile of each asset class is in line with its portfolio target risk rating. In addition, the team monitors on an ongoing basis the news and various limits/guidelines for private investments. The Private Investment Risk Group ultimately reports to the Chief Risk Officer.
ABOUT YOUR ROLE
As an Analyst/Sr. Analyst, Private Investment Risk, you’ll:
Prepare risk reports for potential new investments
- Perform fundamental analyses of potential new investments and assign internal ratings and covenants to these transactions
- Identify and articulate main risks and mitigants for a given investment
- Review the potential impact of the transaction on PSP’s total portfolio
- The role will primarily focus on Credit Investments and Private Equity asset classes
Participate in the ongoing review and continuous monitoring of existing investments
- Ensure that internal ratings reflect the current risk profile of each investment and contribute to the overall review process
- Participate in the quarterly risk reporting, including the monitoring of internal covenants
- Monitor financial markets to identify events that could impact the value and risk profile of the portfolio investments
- Collaborate closely with other internal risk teams
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Bachelor’s degree (Finance/Economics/Accounting)
- Professional titles such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM), considered an asset
- Zero (0) to four (4) years of relevant experience in investment risk or credit analysis, ideally within institutional or private markets
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial statements
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Proficiency in English and French (frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)
