JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Head Custodian the position replaces absent Custodial Staff (Custodial Aide/Custodian) and is

responsible for maintaining site safety, sanitation, and service in schools and other divisional buildings. The incumbent will

work alongside the Head Custodian and Custodian to perform general cleaning duties and grounds/building maintenance. This

position supports the strategic actions of the Multi-Year Strategic Plan.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):

  • Completion of Grade 10
  • Completion of Respect In School or equivalent training is required.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, Workplace Safety and Health is preferred.
  • Ability to operate light cleaning equipment and tools, i.e., vacuum, mops, brooms, duster, etc.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal direction.
  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively in accordance with Divisional policies and guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Respect confidentiality of work.
  • Must be able to communicate in a pleasant, courteous, and effective manner.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search & Clear report from the Child Abuse Registry.
