Shepherd Village is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Dietary Aide. In this role, you will support the Food & Nutrition Services department, working in either a long-term care or retirement setting. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a key role in ensuring the overall care, comfort, and satisfaction of each Resident and Guest during mealtimes.
What You Will Work On
Reporting to the Supervisor, Food Services, the successful applicant will be expected to represent Shepherd Village in a courteous and professional manner, while maintaining amicable relationships with staff, Residents and their families, in keeping with our Corporate Values.
How You’ll Create Impact
- Contribute to the overall care and satisfaction of each Resident and Guest during mealtimes
- Assist Residents during meals in a respectful and supportive manner
- Serve meals in accordance with therapeutic diet orders
- Transport dishes to and from the kitchen before and after mealtimes
What Are Your Skills and Experience
- Completed or enrolled in an approved Food Service Worker program required
- Grade 12 diploma required
- Previous food service experience in long-term care or retirement preferred
- Proficient in food preparation and serving techniques
- Proven safe food handling practices
- Motivated to provide high quality work & work in an efficient manner
- Excellent customer service skills & communication
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job including;
- Standing for prolonged periods of time
- Push, pull, lift & carry up to 20lbs or 9kg (max)
- Ability to accept & follow directions and follow company policies and procedures
- Able to build & maintain good working relationships with residents & coworkers
