Company Description Traferox creates, manufactures and commercializes products that increase the number and improve the outcome of transplantation of solid organs (lungs, heart, liver, kidneys, pancreas). These products employ technologies invented by the transplant surgeons at the University Health Network (UHN). Traferox currently sells the TorEx Lung Perfusion System and the XPort Lung Transport Device. Job Description Department: Engineering

Reports to: Senior Director of Product Development

Location: On-site at 2400 Skymark Ave., Mississauga, ON

Status: Permanent Full-time

Closing date: October 9, 2025

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Using the product requirement as inputs, design all electrical circuits and subsystems of the company’s medical products, including power circuits, analog circuits and digital circuits.
  • Design printed circuit boards and cable assemblies.
  • Design and construct cable routing and management.
  • Document the electrical designs, in the form of schematics, board layout files, bills of materials, and other documents.
  • Work with suppliers to manufacture the company’s products.
  • Participate in the creation and execution of test protocols.
  • Create manufacturing test instructions as well as test jigs.
  • In collaboration with the head of software development, develop the embedded software code running in the company’s product.
  • Investigate issues identified in internal testing and at customer sites; participate in the resolution of the issues and deployment of the solutions.
  • Participate in the certification of the company’s product to electrical safety standards (e.g. IEC 60601-1) and electromagnetic compatibility standards (IEC 60601-1-2).
  • Participate in risk management activities.
  • Create and maintain documentation required to demonstrate compliance with the company’s QMS and all applicable medical device regulations.
  • Adhere to and enhance the Quality Management System (QMS), including developing and maintaining documentation and training other staff as appropriate.
  • Experience with solid models, assemblies and SolidWorks

Qualifications Education:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in electrical engineering, or similar degree.

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in electrical system design.
  • Experience working with biomedical technology is an asset.
  • Experience working within a Quality Management System is an asset.
  • Experience working with embedded software is an asset.
  • Exposure to mechanical engineering and developing fixtures and components.

Skills And Knowledge

  • Knowledge of digital and analog circuit design.
  • Knowledge of power distribution circuits (power supplies, isolation transformers, etc.)
  • Knowledge of electrical design and board layout software (Or CAD or other).
  • Knowledge of embedded software development (in C or other low-level language).
  • Knowledge of efficient cable management and routing diagrams.
  • Experience with 3-D CAD software.
  • General knowledge of electrical safety standards (IEC 60601-1).
  • General knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility concepts and standards.
  • Interest in biomedical technology.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Independent motivation and drive to achieve results.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Additional Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of standards (IEC 62304) software and regulations governing medical device software is an asset.
