POSITION SUMMARY: As a Mechanical Designer you will be responsible for the completion of engineering design tasks, Bill of Material releases and projects from concept to implementation. This will include all related design activities, calculations, communications, drawings and bill of material.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Complete design tasks and project assignments which support production activities
     - Coordinate tasks to ensure schedule and dates are met considering vendor and production lead times.
  • Create designs that meet customer specifications, technical summaries, other contract documents and ensure designs are within manufacturing abilities.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with design criteria and regulations. - Complete or initiates controlled testing of components and installations to meet contractual obligations, ensure product reliability and verify component fit.
  • Complete engineering drawings and release documents in accordance with engineering procedures and ENAs (Notice of Action).
  • Provides engineering support to Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Support and other departments as required.
  • Interact with vendors and customers on design related issues. Ensures that where applicable, there are documents of vendor approval on new installations or applications.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong CAD/Unigraphics, Drafting, Visual Basic and PLC programming is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong team work, problem solving and communication skills. - Ability to work independently.
