About the role

Level up your accounting career with GGFL! Go beyond the numbers.

At GGFL, our work is our pride, people are our strength, we embrace change and grow with it, and we work collaboratively.

At GGFL, we’re not your average accounting firm. Yes, we take our work seriously (tax laws require it!), but we also believe in having fun, supporting one another, and growing together. We’re proud of what we do, energized by who we work with, and always up for embracing what’s next.

We’re Ottawa’s go-to tax planning and accounting firm for successful business owners. Entrepreneurs and local leaders trust us to help them navigate complex financial territory—from audits to tax planning—with confidence, clarity, and a little bit of personality.

We’re seeking a seasoned Staff Accountant who’s experienced with hands-on bookkeeping, comfortable with investment accounting, excited to prepare compilation engagements, and passionate about supporting our niche client base of health professionals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparing compilation engagements, ranging from simple to complex, including different types of investment transactions for health professional corporation clients

  • Compile bookkeeping end-to-end— year end accruals for accounts receivable and payable, reconciliations, and communication with clients throughout the year

  • Preparing investment accounting tasks—investment bookkeeping including tracking capital calls, distributions, tax slip reconciliation, and co-ordination with clients’ financial advisors

  • Preparing corporate financial statements and tax returns, ensuring clarity and compliance, as well as tax planning solutions

  • Assemble T4, T4A, T5 return summaries and slips

  • Preparing GST/HST returns – calculated under the Quick or Regular method

  • Formulate remuneration schedule for owners/employees, including discussions relating to salary and/or dividends

  • Compose incorporation and reorganization memos to optimize corporate structure for tax planning

  • Supporting client inquiries relating to business operations and accounting

WHY JOIN US?

This team supports doctors, dentists, and other healthcare providers—professionals who value trusted, long-term relationships. This client group offers complex and rewarding work, and the opportunity to develop niche expertise. You'll help clients navigate incorporation, tax strategy, succession planning, and practice growth, all while making a meaningful impact on those who care for others.

  • Real impact. You’ll work directly with local health care professionals who make a meaningful difference in the community where you live.

  • Your career, your way. We support your journey with structured development, coaching and skills progression for your continuous growth.

  • Flexible time off. Generous PTO, bonus holiday week in December, and half-day Fridays in July and August!

  • Paid Overtime – yup, you read that right.

  • Free onsite parking – because who wants to pay for that?

What You Bring

  • 2+ years in a public accounting firm, with solid experience on compilation engagements including preparation of corporate tax returns

  • Experience in investment accounting

  • Excellent bookkeeping skills, including reconciliations and year-end adjusting entries

  • Understanding of tax compliance filings

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • A feedback-friendly mindset and a willingness to grow

  • A passion for helping clients thrive—and maybe even a love for spreadsheets (we won’t judge)

Let’s build something great together.
