The Compensation Partner is responsible for managing the planning, continuous development and implementation of compensation programs and policies to ensure alignment to Air Canada’s philosophy and practices. This includes the delivery of base compensation, Job Evaluation, the Annual Salary Program, market review, etc. This role will also have the responsibility to ensure compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Director, Compensation on the strategy, design and implementation of compensation policies, programs, and processes to ensure compensation is innovative, competitive, aligning with Company objectives and support the organization's talent management.
  • Manage the design, implementation and administration of compensation guidelines and programs while ensuring consistency with compensation trends and company’s compensation philosophy and business objectives.
  • Leverage, develop and manage compensation programs on a proactive basis to support Branches in motivating and recognizing employees, as well as driving performance.
  • Provides guidance and recommendations for Senior Director, Human Resources, Manager, Human Resources and Talent Acquisition teams on pay decisions to attract, motivate and retain top talent.
  • Provide consulting and compensation service delivery.
  • Lead a range of compensation reviews to solve issues and projects designed to support business strategies.
  • Perform job evaluations, communicate results and maintain related documentation.
  • Manage relationships with internal departments (Payrolls) and Employee Care Team.
  • Conduct salary surveys, partner with external compensation consultants and analyze market data to determine appropriate pay ranges for various positions
  • Manage executive compensation, including executive benchmarking, salary increases, long-term incentives, metric tracking, share ownership guidelines, executive severance, and other executive policies
  • Prepare materials for meetings of the HRCPC throughout the year. Research and recommend agenda items for the Compensation committee
  • Prepare public disclosure documents (Proxy)
  • Maintain current knowledge of governance / best practices relating to executive compensation and disclosure

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of compensation and executive compensation experience and knowledge
  • Proven ability to work with others at all levels using tact and discretion. Must be able to explain, clarify and defend conclusions reached and to present facts clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Strong effective communicator in writing, business presentations and interpersonal communication
  • Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality
  • Strong analytical ability and competent spreadsheet and database skills
  • Highly autonomous with solid organization and work planning abilities; highly adaptable to shifting priorities
  • University degree in a relevant field of study
  • Major in Human Resource Management, an asset
  • CCP designation, an asset
  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
