Job Summary
This dynamic Associate role will appeal to a detail-oriented, adaptable, and creative person who can thrive as part of a dedicated and enthusiastic multi-site volunteer engagement team. Committed to excellence, the successful candidate is passionate about engaging with the community as volunteers to enhance the healthcare experience for patients, residents, families, and team members.
With a strong focus on recruitment within the volunteer engagement lifecycle, this role supports volunteer inquiries, application screening, interviewing, and placement coordination across Lakeridge Health. The Associate must be responsive to the evolving needs of a volunteer program in a complex healthcare environment, with an emphasis on efficiency, collaboration, continuous improvement, and understanding the broader impact of volunteer engagement on organization success. This role will be hybrid, involving a mix of working-from-home and on-site at one of our facilities, with the potential for a flexible schedule.
Role and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Volunteer Resources Lead (VR Lead), the Associate plays a key role in volunteer recruitment and engagement across Lakeridge Health, supporting innovative practices that strengthen the patient, resident and family experience. As responsibilities extend to all Lakeridge Health facilities across the Durham Region, the Associate works closely with the Volunteer Resources Team (VRT) to support the full volunteer engagement lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
" Managing volunteer inquiries and supporting candidate engagement from initial contact and beyond as assigned
" Coordinating and conducting application pre-screening and interviews in alignment with department standards
" Maintaining accurate applicant tracking, database entry, and recruitment data with strong attention to detail and confidentiality
" Monitoring volunteer role schedules and vacancy trends to identify recruitment needs and then support targeted recruitment strategies
" Assisting in the development and posting of volunteer opportunities, attending community recruitment events, and support any related outreach initiatives
" Collaborating with VRT members to ensure timely onboarding to then support placements and training
" Contributing to both virtual and in-person recruitment and engagement processes, including the development of tools and process improvements
" Monitoring volunteer feedback and emerging issues, escalating to VR Lead as appropriate, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
" Providing on-site support as required, assisting with program logistics and supply needs and contributing to all recognition initiatives
" Preparing and sharing recruitment updates and reports
" Performing other duties as assigned
Through strong organizational skills, professionalism, and collaboration, the Associate helps ensure a responsive, efficient, and well-supported volunteer recruitment process.
Qualifications and Requirements
" A minimum of two (2) years of related experience in administrative and client-centred activities
" Post-secondary education in Volunteer Management, Human Resources or other related field, or similar volunteer experience are a strong asset
" Experience with large databases, familiarity with a volunteer management platform considered an asset
" Membership in PAVRO and/or DRAVA is desirable
" As this is a hybrid role, candidates must have a dedicated home workspace and access to a reliable vehicle are required, as travel between various Lakeridge Health sites will be necessary to assist the VRT
" Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information with discretion
" Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse teams and community members
" Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, follow through on assignments, and proactively identify opportunities for process
" Demonstrated record of excellent attendance, punctuality, and reliability
" Strong administrative and technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Sharepoint and Teams)
" Demonstrated commitment to Lakeridge Health's core values
