Job Description:

Under the administrative direction of the Events Manager, President’s Office, the incumbent is responsible for the planning, organization, and implementation of Experiential Learning and Entrepreneurship (ELE) (Applied Research, Co-op and Career Services, and Entrepreneurship) - annual event calendar. The incumbent is also responsible for developing, coordinating, planning, and implementing on-campus and off-campus activities/events related to employment and student retention e.g., Career Networking Fairs, Applied Research Day, Announcement,, school-specific career fairs and networking events, and specialized recruitment activities on campus. This position will also support Student event including orientation and convocagtion as well as employee events.

The incumbent will actively obtain feedback following each programmed event and research the ever-changing interests of Algonquin College students, as well as prepare event reports detailing the evaluation and assessment of all respective events. The incumbent may be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Logistics Planning
    Develops blueprints, critical path, event scripts, briefing packages, etc. for events to ensure appropriate timing and execution of all events.
    Requests assistance from the college departments in preparation for events e.g. Facilities Management, Information Technology Services, Food Services, etc.
  • Event Coordination
    Plans, organizes, works with budgets and coordinates on-campus recruitment activities and events such as the Career Networking Fair, Applied Research Day, specialized school-specific fairs, etc.
  • Event Evaluation
    Actively seeks feedback following each programmed event and research the ever-changing interests of community partners and Algonquin College students, as well as prepares event reports detailing the evaluation and assessment of all respective events.
  • Support with the planning, coordination, and execution of student events, including orientation and convocation as well as corporate events
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-year diploma/degree or equivalent in Event Management, Business - Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or related field,

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in planning and implementing events, including the assessment and evaluation of all relevant success metrics,

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
