Compensation Details:

  • Software Engineer 17: Salaries typically range from $84,698 to $112,931 annually, based on qualifications and experiences.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, with a current requirement of two in-office days per week, increasing to three days per week in September 2026 (subject to change).
  • This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.

Team Overview:

  • The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:

o Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.

o Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.

o Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.

o Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Insurance Squad within the Digital Platform Delivery and Architecture group.

The SQA Analyst is responsible for defining and executing test strategies that ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of enterprise software solutions. This role combines hands-on manual and automated testing with ownership of test frameworks, tooling, and delivery-quality outcomes across one or more IT initiatives.

The successful candidate will design, implement, and maintain automated testing solutions, integrate testing into the development lifecycle, and collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and delivery teams to proactively identify and resolve defects. This role is critical to improving delivery confidence, reducing regression risk, and enabling faster, higher quality releases.

A background in computer science, proficiency in programming languages such as .NET, Python, or C#, and experience with automation testing tools like Selenium or Robot Framework are essential prerequisites for the ideal candidate. Practical communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a keen eye for detail are critical for success in this role.

What you will be doing:

  1. Define and execute test strategies and plans aligned to solution architecture, delivery timelines, and quality objectives across assigned IT initiatives.

  2. Design, write, and execute manual and automated test cases to validate functional, integration, regression, and selected non‑functional requirements.

  3. Design, implement, and maintain test automation frameworks and scripts, prioritizing high value, repeatable, and risk based test scenarios.

  4. Integrate automated tests into the development and CI/CD lifecycle to enable continuous testing and early defect detection.

  5. Identify, document, track, and retest defects, collaborating closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution and quality outcomes.

  6. Support and validate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by aligning test outcomes with business requirements, collaborating with business users, and ensuring issues are clearly understood, prioritized, and resolved.

  7. Collaborate with cross functional delivery and business stakeholders (developers, product owners, Scrum Masters, business testers) to embed quality throughout the agile delivery process and report on testing progress, risks, and quality metrics.

What we are looking for:

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management information systems or related field
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in QA test automation or software development
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Web Application Testing: Proven track record of testing web applications, including functional, usability, security, and performance testing
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience testing the backend services (API) and integration points of application
  • Minimum 2 years of Agile working experience
  • Advanced knowledge of IT systems development principles and practices
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience with Azure Dev Ops, Jira or other requirement/defect management tool(s)

What will make you stand out:

  • Experience or knowledge of the credit insurance domain
  • Knowledge of database management and SQL for testing database applications and verifying data integrity
  • Experience in using source code management system (GitHub)
  • Experience with programming with Python and Robot Framework
  • Programming/scripting skills in languages such as .NET, Python, Java, Selenium or C#
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
  • External posters: Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)./Internal posters: Bilingual in both official languages (English and French) – minimum speaking proficiency (Level B2).
