Job Summary
CIMT College is seeking a qualified Instructor to teach in the Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) program, which is registered with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities. The successful candidate will be expected to adhere to CIMT College’s policies and procedures. The Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) Program is designed to equip childcare workers with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for employment as Early Childhood Assistants in day care or early learning centers.
Position Details:

Part-time teaching opportunity.

Courseware, resources, evaluations, and daily lesson plans are provided through a comprehensive Instructor Manual.

The Instructor is responsible for delivering lessons in accordance with the Instructor Manual, utilizing provided resources to equip students with the knowledge and skills required for employment in the field.

Experience in marking clinical evaluations and grading students’s practicum placements will be considered an asset.

The Instructor will also prepare students to successfully pass their final NACC examination, which is required for program completion and graduation.

CIMT College places a premium on professional conduct, combined with excellence in classroom instruction, with primary emphasis on hands-on training.
Skills Required

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database systems

Excellent oral and written communication to present information in a way that students will understand as well as adapt to the different learning styles

Professional business attire and interpersonal skills to act as a mentor and role model

Online teaching (training provided, but computer skills are essential)
Qualifications Required
- Minimum of 5 years current working experience as an ECE
- Current membership in the provincial association for ECEs
- Bachelor's Degree in ECE OR an ECE Diploma from a registered college
- Meet Instructor qualification standards as outlined in the Regulations to Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005
Job Duties
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field
- Instruct curriculum using only pre-authorized and provided materials
- Teach students using a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, case studies, independent or group projects
- Employ appropriate adult teaching and learning strategies to communicate the subject matter to diverse students
- Administer and marks quizzes, assignments, exams and/or other assessments to monitor and evaluate students’ progress according to guidelines and procedures
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student marks promptly
- Provide feedback on student performance
- Arrange feedback from students on the instructor, content, and facility at the end of each course
- Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and individual circumstances in a multi-cultural environment
- Resolve student complaints and concerns with a positive and professional attitude
- Maintain attendance records accurately
- Assure that classrooms are left in a clean and orderly fashion at end of class without loss of or damage to equipment or other resources
- Provide support to the admissions team with potential students who have questions about the program or future career
- Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events like graduation
- Maintain confidentiality of student privacy and information
- Stay current in the subject matter through professional development
- Display an attitude of teamwork and problem solving Perform other related duties as required
