Early Years Program Lead / Lead RECE
JOB SUMMARY
The Early Years Program Lead / Lead RECE supports the daily operation of MAC Childcare Centre by helping provide a safe, caring, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate childcare program. This role supports program quality, staff guidance, family communication, documentation, health and safety practices, and compliance with licensing and centre requirements.
The successful candidate will model professionalism, positive child guidance, teamwork, strong communication, and respect for the centre’s Islamic values. The Early Years Program Lead works closely with administration and educators to support smooth daily operations and high-quality care for children and families.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to the responsibilities outlined in the Employment Contract, the Early Years Program Lead / Lead RECE is expected to:
- Support the planning and delivery of developmentally appropriate programs for children.
- Provide daily guidance and support to educators in routines, classroom organization, and program delivery.
- Help ensure compliance with licensing requirements, centre policies, health and safety procedures, and administrative directions.
- Maintain active supervision of children and promote a safe, respectful, and caring environment.
- Support positive child guidance practices, including redirection, modelling, encouragement, and respectful communication.
- Assist with attendance, daily logs, accident reports, incident reports, medication records, allergy information, and required documentation.
- Monitor classrooms, materials, equipment, playground areas, and learning environments for safety and readiness.
- Support daily routines, including arrival, departure, meals, rest time, toileting/diapering, transitions, and outdoor play.
- Communicate professionally with families regarding children’s routines, progress, and concerns when appropriate.
- Support new staff, supply educators, and team members with centre expectations and daily procedures.
- Report health, safety, staffing, child protection, licensing, or operational concerns to administration promptly.
- Help maintain accurate children’s records and support consistent use of centre documentation systems.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, program planning, and centre improvement initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, staff, and centre matters.
- Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, fairness, professionalism, and respect for the centre’s Islamic values and code of conduct.
- Work collaboratively with administration and the childcare team to promote a positive, respectful, and high-quality childcare environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should meet the following qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Early Childhood Education diploma or recognized equivalent.
- Registered Early Childhood Educator in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Previous experience in a licensed childcare setting.
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification.
- Vulnerable Sector Check and required health documentation before employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Leadership, mentoring, or program coordination experience in childcare.
- Strong knowledge of child development, licensing expectations, and age-appropriate programming.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work calmly and professionally in a busy childcare environment.
- Respect for Islamic values and commitment to a positive centre culture.
COMPENSATION
Compensation may include applicable government wage supports, subject to funding rules and eligibility.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position involves working in a licensed childcare environment with young children. Duties may include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, assisting children with routines, outdoor supervision, responding to incidents or emergencies, and managing multiple needs at the same time.
