Job Summary:

To maintain, troubleshoot, repair and install electrical services as required, to comply with legal, trade, company & GMP requirements. Responsible for providing technical expertise to the Maintenance and Operations team(s), supporting day-to-day functions and helping implement capex / improvement projects. Assist in carrying out production maintenance repairs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures; properly uses personal protection and safety equipment as required by CPL; reports any injury or illness immediately and notifies CPL of any hazards, unsafe acts or conditions in the workplace.
  • Comply with cGMP, Electrical Code and other requirements as applicable. Maintain a high level of workmanship with attention to detail and the highest regard for the safety and well-being of people within the facility.
  • Installs new machines and equipment by installing power supply wiring and conduit to and between machines and equipment, using hand tools and test equipment. Program automated machinery, as required.
  • Ensure continuous operation of electrical systems and equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, trouble shooting activities, and all electrical repairs.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, modify and install electrical distribution systems. Work with and supervise electrical contractors hired to work within the facility.
  • Ensure continuous operation of the building fixtures, compressors, boilers, air-conditioning and Ventilation systems to ensure safe and continuous operation.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair building fixtures, compressors, boilers, HVAC and other systems, their controls and other devices within the facility.
  • Provide assistance with maintenance and repair of facilities, manufacturing and packaging production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and correct Programmable Logic Controller(s) (PLCs) related issues including changes to PLC(s) program code, sensors and actuators.
  • Ensure installations, preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting are performed in compliance with site procedures and policies.
  • Control downtime by managing electrical preventive maintenance around the production schedule.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of parts as required to ensure business continuity during times of trouble shooting and repair.
  • Perform quality checks on work performed to ensure effectiveness of repairs, trouble shooting, or preventative maintenance.
  • Required to maintain documentation in the maintenance work order system.
  • Analyze electrical maintenance reports to identify trends and make recommendations for improvements as necessary.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new initiatives to improve quality and efficiencies in manufacturing, with a focus on capex and continuous improvement projects.
  • Build and maintain a collaborative working relationship with internal and external customers.
  • Prepared to work overtime, weekends, holidays as may be required to help achieve and maintain company goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Red Seal Electrician license as a minimum.

Experience:

  • 5 years experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, variable frequency and DC drives, instrumentation, vision systems, fractional to 50HP motors, distributed control systems, powered material handling equipment and power distribution systems up to 600 VAC.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Demonstrated competencies in CPL’s core values.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be flexible to support three-shift operation as needed. Requires the willingness to work off shifts. Periodic off schedule calls for assistance are expected
  • Working with high voltage systems.
  • Availability for emergency call in.
  • Support and membership of Emergency Response Team.
  • Prepared to work in and support the intent of a cGMP environment.
  • Willingness and capability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
